Identification Guidelines – Candidates

The Trust is required to complete right to work and identity checks on all successful applicants before they are
permitted to take up employment. To comply with this please provide a combination of 1 right to work
document and 2 documents under identity checks.

Right to Work Checks

• UK/Irish passport (this can be out of date (up to 12 months) but the photo still bears some
resemblance).
• UK birth/adoption certificate, evidence of National Insurance Number and photographic ID (this may
be a countersigned passport photo or driving licence).
• Non-UK/EEA passport (must be in date) and a Biometric Residence Permit or EU Settlement Status
Letter or Share Code.

Identity Checks

• Utility bill (gas, water, electricity, or landline telephone) or a letter from a utility supplier confirming
the arrangement to pay for the services at a fixed address on pre-payment terms. More than one
utility bill may be accepted, if these are from two different suppliers.*
• Local authority tax statement e.g. council tax statement**
• UK full or provisional photo card driving licence – if not already presented as a form of photographic
ID
• Full old-style paper driving licences
• HM Revenue & Customs tax notification such as an assessment, statement of account, notice of coding
(please note we are unable to accept P45 or P60s)**
• A financial statement such as bank, building society or credit card statement MUST BE A STATEMENT
NOT A BANK LETTER
• Credit union statement (UK only)*
• Mortgage statement from a recognised lender (UK)**
• Local council or tenancy agreement*
• Evidence of entitlement to Department for Work and Pensions benefits, such as child allowance,
pension etc. (UK only)**
• Confirmation from an electoral register that a person of that name lives at the claimed address**

*All documents must be dated within the last six months.

** All documents must be dated within the last 12 months

Not denoted: this means that the document can be more than 12 months old

We are unable to accept statements or bills that have been printed at home from an online account, unless downloaded
in-front of a member of the Resourcing Team or your Recruiting Manager.

All documents provided must be the originals. You must also provide your original documentation at Trust Welcome
Day.
