Meridian MUN, one of Hyderabad’s largest and oldest ongoing Model UN, annually draws

350+ delegates to address current global issues and agendas. Since its inception, MerMUN
has consistently provided an intellectually stimulating platform that provides students with a
forum to hone skill in diplomacy, negotiation critical thinking, comprise, public speaking,
writing and research. Through MerMUN, our mission is to spread awareness among a
growing and dynamic youth consistently in India and create a powerful movement driven by
future sustainability leaders. We would like to take an orientation for the students and
personally talk to them to help them understand what an MUN is and to encourage students to
participate in an MUN and to do their little part in knowing the global issues. Please let us
know when and what time it would be convenient for you to let us come and talk to them. For
this year’s edition of our conference, we will be hosting it at Our campus, Meridian school
Madhapur and will be having around 350+ delegates participating in the conference. The
whole event will be taking place over a span of 3 days, on the 29th, 30th and 31st of July.

Our committees for this year are:


Lok Sabha (Intermediate)- Known as The House of the People, full of ministers and
politicians, this committee gives a profound understanding and insight of Indian politics.

Disarmament and International Security Council (Beginner to Intermediate)- Concerned with


transnational security threats, DISEC is one of the most important organs of the United
Nations. With 193 members this committee guarantees engaging debate in active
participation.

United Nations International Children’s Fund (Beginner to intermediate)- Responsible for


providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children, we ensure an educational
experience for all delegates attending the conference.

Commission on the Status of Women (Beginner to intermediate)- It is instrumental in


promoting women's rights, documenting the reality of women's lives throughout the world,
and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.

Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (Beginner to Intermediate)- It works


to eliminate chemical weapons stockpiles, to ensure the non-proliferation of existing
stockpiles, to assist states in protecting themselves against chemical weapons attacks, and to
promote international cooperation in the use of chemistry for peaceful purposes.

Future Continuous Crisis Committee (Advanced)- Delegates take on the role of a character
that can range from an ambassador to a news reporter to a fictional character, depending on
the committee.

International Court of Justice (Advanced)- It settles disputes between states in accordance


with international law and gives advisory opinions on international legal issues.

Special Conference on Slavery and Human Trafficking (Advanced)- It takes action on


violations committed against victims and on situations in which there has been a failure to
protect their human rights.

Besides committees, we also have an International Press where students can join either as a
Journalist or a Photographer.
