ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

With deepest appreciation and gratefulness, I humbly give thanks to the people who, with

all they can, helped me all throughout in making my On- the- job training in industry immersion

a possible one.

To my parents for their unending love and support for extending their arms to provide all

my needs financially and morally, for their patience and understanding during my tiring days that

I can’t help them in the household chores, for their motivating advices and for being there at my

side no matter what.

To my brother and sister who serve as an inspiration to me, who pushed me to become

better, who keep on encouraging me to always make the best out of everything and for being

proud and ever supportive siblings in my achievements.

To the institution with good reputation and known as producing outstanding students for

almost couple of years in the industry of education. I feel honoured to be their product where I

am continuously growing as a Senior High School student in Home Economics strand.

To my Instructor in Industry Immersion Practicum Ms. Edna Llyn Leong-on who shared

and continuously sharing their knowledge with us, as her students like me and keep on molding

me into a better person. I am lengthening my overflowing gratitude especially to Ms. Aileen

Pearl T. Jalipa who patiently imparted her expertise and knowledge with us. I would also thank

her for being one of the effective teachers I encountered and keep on inspiring me to pursue my

goals in life, most of all, to be a competitive and well accomplished person someday. I am

grateful for touching my life and motivating me to study harder for me to have a better

INTRODUCTION

Industry Immersion offers motivated undergraduates the chance to explore industry and

leading job markets as well as to elevate themselves personally and professionally. A

comprehensive understanding of career opportunities, first-hand knowledge of company cultures

and experience turning new contacts into mutually beneficial long term relationships all

contribute to better internship and post-graduate opportunities.

On-the-Job training is a hands-on method of imparting the vital knowledge and skills, and

competencies required for employees to accomplish specific tasks within the workplace.

According to Garavan et al., on the job training represents a set of processes that happen within a

specific organizational context and involve assimilitating and acquiring integrated cluster of

values, skills, knowledge and feelings that lead to fundamental changes in behaviours of a

worker or teams (Nakahata & Matsuo, 2013).

As a training program for students, OJT is designed to immerse learners in work

environments relevant to their area of study in an attempt to learn knowledge on, productivity in,

and respect for the workplace. Beyond helping students apply the principles, ideas, and theories

learned in the classroom, it enables them to level up their technical skills, knowledge, and

attitude towards work (Career, n.d). This way, it enables students to gain work experience and in

most cases (6 out of 10), it converts into full-time employment (Adams, 2012).

On-the-Job training is a program that students take to gain hands-on experience in the

workplace and increase employability. It is meticulously structured plan with clearly outlined

phases and produces that need to be adhered to. In the modern workplace, on the job training is a

highly effective policy tool used to shape the skills of the existing employees and attune them to

the specific needs of the firm (Almeida & Faria). For the students, however, OJT is heralded as a

rare opportunity to find firm grip on the industry or role they wish to pursue. It gave students the

first real taste of work without throwing them into deep end straight away. And when utilized

properly, it delivers a host of benefits.

ACCOUNT LEARNING

DAY 1

My first day was really a good start. I was very excited and somewhat nervous
because of the new people surrounding me and environment. I didn’t have any idea of
what kind of what people they are and it made me adjust myself with their personalities and
attitudes. But since this is the day 1 of my training I need to do something good to my new
manager and co-trainee.

My training supervisor accompanied me to my new room where I will be staying during

my On-the-training. The assistant manager introduced me the personnel of the restaurant.
She also conducted a mini-orientation about the policies, rules and regulations and company
profile of the restaurants. My first assignment was to be a wait staff in dining area. The one of
the captain waiters told me to observe the routine in dinning area. I noticed that the first thing
to serve on the costumer is water followed by the bread, butter and special dip. He told me to
never fail to greet our costumers either good morning, good afternoon, and good evening.
The captain showed me on set-up of the restaurants, He also told me to memorize and
understand the menu of the restaurant, since the dishes offered by the restaurant is
Confinental and Mediterranean cuisine as well as the table number and the capacity of each
table number. So as a trainee, this is my first step on-the-job, I felt happy because all of my co-
trainee are kind and have a good personality thats why in first day of job we are already close
to each other. So that In this way I can cooperate with them confidently.

DAY 2

On my

DAY 3
Republic of the Philippines
Wright Technological College of Antique

San Jose, Antique
TVL- Home Economics
This third day was a very heavy day. I felt tired and weak but despite of it, I really
learned a lot not just academically but socially as well as because I learned to adjust myself to
the people I am with and I learned to socialize with them in a good manner. I know that there
are many things that I have accomplished from day 1 to day 2. So as for our last day of duty,
Our manager giving a challenge to us. He told tha, you need to work in this restaurant by your
own way base on the procedures that I teach to all of you from day one and two. So me as a co-
trainee I do this challenge by greeting our guest with warm and sincere voice, Serving them in
proper way, and the last step is to clean the resrtaurants. So I think that I made this challenge
perfectly, and I hope that our manager will give us the hisghest score for all cooperation that
we made and show to them. And for now before I leave in this establishment, I want to thank
to all my co-trainee for their good personalities that they show it to me, for our manager and
captain waiter thank you for the kindness that you bring and felt to us since in the beginning.
Also to god that always here by my side to guide me in every situation of my life. I am sincerely
thankful to everyone because I made my on-the-job training successfully without any eniemy
and issue that happened.
