TECHNIQUE:
Multiplanar, multi-sequential images through leftat knee joint were acquired without IV contrast
administration.
CLINICAL INDICATION:
RTA 2 months back
Pain and difficulty in walking
FINDINGS:
Anterior cruciate ligament is not visualized throughout its course suggestive of its complete tear
Moderate knee joint effusion is noted with extension of fluid in the suprapatellar recess.
Abnormal intrasubstance hyperintense signals are noted in the posterior horn of medial meniscus
reaching both superior and inferior articular surfaces representing grade III meniscal tear
The bones comprising the knee joint show normal configuration and position. The bone marrow signal is
normal.
The cortex shows smooth contours and normal thickness with no subchondral signal changes.
The cartilages covering the patella, femoral condyles and tibial plateau is of normal thickness and has
normal signal characteristics.
Patella, patellar tendon and distal quadriceps tendon are unremarkable.
The lateral meniscus of knee joint present a normal triangular configuration and has a homogenous
internal structure of low signal intensity.
The posterior cruciate ligament is intact and normal in body signal characteristics.
The medial and lateral collateral ligaments are intact.
The soft tissues surrounding the knee are unremarkable.
Neurovascular bundles appear normal.
IMPRESSION:
Complete tear of anterior cruciate ligament
Grade III tear of posterior horn of medial meniscus.
Moderate knee joint effusion.
