ACTIVITY PROPOSAL

TITLE : Unpacking of Aral Pan’s MELCs

TYPE : Learning Action Cell (LAC)

PARTICIPANTS : 6th Grade Teachers (Group 6)

SCHEDULE : October 15, 2020

VENUE : Mrs. Soniel’s Room

I. RATIONALE

School year 2020 – 2021 has been bombarded with challenges one could
never imagine. Questions are raised as to how DepEd will pull through with the
situation. One would think that this is going to be one roller coaster ride with full of
swings and ups and downs.

The paradigm shift encourages full cooperation and adaptation to the new
normal in education. The traditional face to face type of learning delivery is put on
hold as DepEd gears toward a new learning modality.

Along with this change is the birth of Most Essential Learning Competencies
(MELCs) which will be used in the teaching-learning process. The MELCs replaces
the K to 12 Curriculum Guide. Accordingly, competencies in the MELCs are carefully
chosen and extracted from the Curriculum Guide which the experts believe are the
most important competencies that a learner should master.

The minimal number of competencies in the MELCs would be best delivered

and mastered if it will go through unpacking. The unpacking of the competencies will
help the learner as well as the teacher to absorb and understand more the concept.
The process of making parts from a whole competency will surely make a sure hit
learning achievement on the 21st century learners.
II. OBJECTIVES

 Unpack Araling Panlipunan competencies from the MELCs.

 Collaborate with other group members in the unpacking of Aral Pan
competencies.
 Produce unpacked competencies from 1st to 4th quarter.

IV. METHODOLOGIES

1. The Learning Action Cell will be participated by fifteen members of LAC

Group 6 and Aral Pan teachers from the other LAC group.
2. The facilitators will discuss the importance of unpacking the competencies.
3. Facilitators will show sample of an unpacked AralPan competency.
4. LAC members will be grouped into four (4) and their task is to unpacked the
competencies assigned to them.
5. Presentation of output and critiquing will be done to process the
concepts/ideas conveyed in the output.
