LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 7 MATHEMATICS

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key
concepts, uses and importance of Statistics, data
collection/gathering and the different forms of data
representation, measures of central tendency,
measures of variability, and probability.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to collect and organize data
systematically and compute accurately measures of
central tendency and variability and apply these
appropriately in data analysis and interpretation in
different fields.
C. Learning Competencies The learner calculates the measures of variability of
grouped and ungrouped data. M7SP-IVh-i-1
Objectives (optional) The learners…
1. describe the measures of variability in a given
set of grouped data;
2. calculate the different measures of variability
of a given grouped data: variance and
standard deviation; and
3. appreciate the concept of variation in real life
situations.
II. CONTENT MEASURES OF VARIABILITY: RANGE and
MEAN DEVIATION FOR GROUPED DATA

resources)
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing Previous Lesson The following are the daily wages of 8 factory
or Presenting New Lesson workers of two garment factories, factory A and
factory B.
Factory A: 400, 450, 520, 380 482, 495, 575, 450
Factory B: 450, 400, 450, 480, 450, 450, 400, 672
B. Establishing a Purpose for How are we going to compute for its variance and
the Lesson standard deviation? In constructing frequency
distribution, what are the columns needed in order to
compute for the variance and standard deviation for
ungrouped data?
C. Presenting The following are the scores of 2 selected sections in
Examples/Instances of the their Unit Test in Statistics. Determine its variance
Lesson and standard deviation.
Section A
65 81 61 96 95
71 73 86 80 87
71 73 91 62 75
96 64 80 77 56
95 87 70 74 60
89 90 64 91 73
57 59 51 51 50
47 49 48 49 46

Section B
46 48 50 79 73
58 63 66 75 76
52 51 72 72 57
76 71 74 82 47
92 93 94 99 47
84 86 87 89 70
73 74 78 66 92
70 77 80 54 99

If we have this list of scores, is it easy to compute for

its mean deviation?

H. Making Generalization and Measures of dispersion/variability are the spread of
Abstractions about the values about the mean. Smaller dispersion of scores
lesson arising from the comparison often indicates more
consistency and more reliability.
