Evaluating Company Structures & Construction Processes
Background:
Construction industry is immensely working to manage their limited resources to fulfil the
unlimited wants & needs of the stakeholders. The construction industry professionals
repetitively engage in planning, organizing, leading & controlling the different kind of situations
& scenarios to provide the best construction project output effectively & efficiently.
Further, according to Central Bank Annual report, in 2019, construction industry provides
employment for around 600,000 labour capacity & total annual construction turnover is about
Rs. 800 billion. Those statistics clearly shows that, the construction industry plays a major role in
the economic growth of Sri Lanka. Effective & efficient management of the resources is one of
the key aspects to drive success not only in the construction industry; but also, for the overall
national economy. Hence, the construction managers have a pivotal role to play not only in
considering the growth of construction industry, but also national economy.
As a potential scholar who is willing to join this significant & complex industry, one should have
a holistic understand about the construction practices and modern construction management
processes. Additionally, the historic development of the construction industry enabled
integrated construction processes and management styles to be implemented within the
construction industry. In order to have proper complete knowledge, one should have an in-depth
knowledge about the whole life cycle of the construction management process.
Scenario
You are a newly appointed assistant project coordinator who is working under supervision of
General Manager in Alpha Contractors Pvt. Ltd. Alpha Contractors Pvt. Ltd., is an upcoming
construction company, which is having a C-6 ICTAD grading. The Board of Directors requires a
review report of current status of the company.
