Statement of Purpose

‘’Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail’’ - Harold
R McAlindon. Keeping this as the guiding principle in life, I was able to achieve an all India merit rank
at all 3 levels of Chartered Accountancy examination. Chartered Accountancy helped me learn in
depth concepts in the subjects of Accounting, Audit and Taxation with brief insights in the subjects of
Finance and Management.

During my articleship training, I got opportunities to conduct statutory and internal audit of multiple
businesses and work closely with the management, which taught me the relevance and application
of concepts learned during Chartered Accountancy. These experiences broadened my perspectives
of the practical world enabling me to grow professionally as well as personally.

The aspiration to pursue management was sparked in me while organizing financial-market based
event during college festival. Leadership and innovation were the two key reasons that attributed to
making the event successful. Being an ardent lover of sports and playing cricket has imbibed in me
the virtues of patience, team work and most importantly a never die attitude. It also helped me
understand the impact of effective leaders on the performance of the team. An inquisitive nature
since childhood developed in me an understanding of multiple topics, be it pertaining to politics,
technology or astrophysics.

My career goal is to lead an organization in the consultancy industry. In my view, the key to being a
successful consultant lies in having a detailed knowledge of business fundamentals, a comprehensive
understanding of business functions and strong awareness of external factors affecting a business.

I believe management education from a prestigious institute like IIM Bangalore, with a robust
curriculum and case-study approach, will help me acquire multiple skills and understand various
business functions. IIM Bangalore is the place where world-class business leaders are nurtured and
developed with personalized care. One of the cornerstones of IIM Bangalore’s foundation involves
infusing an entrepreneurial mindset. The NS Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning, providing
mentoring to aspiring entrepreneurs along with an opportunity to learn from eminent academicians
and researchers, attracts me like a magnet to be a part of this very institute. The networking,
mentoring and grooming opportunities at IIM Bangalore will take me closer to my goal. I believe my
experience during Chartered Accountancy and articleship coupled with my varied interests will bring
a different perspective to serve the diversity at IIM Bangalore. I am excited to be part of IIM
Bangalore’s enriching culture and to contribute to its glory!
