1. Ensure that a Construction Manager has been appointed. The person appointed
should be a full time employee and should remain on site while work is being
performed by your staff members;
2. Ensure that all construction work under your control is conducted in a safe
manner and in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and
Safety Act, 1993 and all incorporated Regulations;
3. Ensure that the provisions of the Health and Safety Plan, Fall Protection Plan and
all related Safe Operating Procedures as agreed upon are complied with during the
duration of the contract;
4. Ensure that your staff employed on the contract receives training and are
competent in the performance of their respective tasks;
5. Enforce discipline and ensure that staff and visitors comply with the site rules and
all related health and safety rules and procedures;
6. Conduct inspections and keep the registers as required by the applicable
legislation; and
7. Co-operate with the Principal Contractor in ensuring the health and safety of all
persons on site.
