THE YOUNG NATIONALIAN RESEARCHER

1. The Golden Rectangle in the Renaissance

Renaissance scholars saw the Vitruvian Man and noted that the proportions of the human body were a
precise and repeated representation of the "Golden Ration." Leonardo da Vinci depicted a man fully
surrounded by a circle and a square in the "Vitruvian Man" artwork to demonstrate what he saw to be a
divine link between the human form and the universe. Many theologians at the time held the belief that
the Golden Ratio included a portion of the creation's secret code. In line with Leonardo, he had a
scientific approach that he unified through meticulous observational drawings, by using his detailed
sketches they explore the interior of the human body were it became extremely useful for the following
generations of medics. Leonardo was also known as the "renaissance man" because of his extensive
research on the human body, his observations of all aspects of life, and his demonstration of a broader
perspective.

2. The Golden Rectangle and Impressionism

In about a 300 years ago, to the day of French Impressionism there are many painters, but Georges
Seurat used the Golden Ratio in most of his artworks. In the Golden Rectangle and Impressionism, I have
found out that a painter named Georges Seurat who was a French Post-Impressionist painter and was
captivated by the appeal of the Golden Rectangle. The book “Mathematics” by David Bergamini stated
that Seurat’s painting “La Padre de Cirque” from 1888, he created numerous appearances of the Golden
Ratio through people’s position and it’s colors. I also discover in the book of “Mathematics” the book
quoted that Seurat “attacked every canvas by the Golden Ratio” but unfortunately this statements are
unfounded. During this period the use of the Golden Ratio in works of art is now known as the technique
of dynamic symmetry.

3. The Golden Rectangle in the 20th Century

The Golden Rectangle's stunning proportions continued to fascinate painters throughout the 20th
century. The importance of the golden ratio as a structural tool cannot be overstated, even while its
worth in modern art may not be as rich as it was in High Renaissance paintings by Leonardo Da Vinci,
Michelangelo, Raphael, or much later painters of the early 20th century. Le Corbusier a French Architect
believed that by the help of mathematics, people can experienced comfort in their eyes, mind, and
body. In addition, because of what Corbusier belief he intentionally designed a villa to adapt the Golden
Rectangle. And during this period, 20 th Century the Golden Rectangle which is only used before in
building structure, yet now it is also used in musical works.

4. Golden Spiral
According to Wikipedia, A golden spiral is a logarithmic spiral in geometry with the golden ratio as its
growth factor, meaning that it widens by a factor of for each quarter round it makes. The natural and
aesthetic beauty of this spiral may be described mathematically. Within each square, we will draw a
quarter of a circle having a radius equal to the side of the square. This closely approximates the
logarithmic spiral, which occurs in nature in various forms. Lastly I learned how to locate the very center
of the spiral, by drawing a diagonal in the biggest golden rectangle from its northwest corner all the way
down to its southeast corner, and then in the next-largest golden rectangle from its northeast corner all
the way up to its southwest corner.
