The Manizales Fair was created in 1952, this fair was born due to the appreciation of
Spanish culture such as bullfighting, literature and education. The first version of the
International Coffee Reign was held in 1957, the year in which its first queen was crowned.
also since its creation the first bullfighting season was scheduled and since then it is
considered as the temple of bullfighting.

people celebrated it by attending the scheduled events that are at the beginning of
January of each year, they differentiate themselves by having a Fiesta Brava, they also
held the Bullfighting Fair with its corralejas, which people enjoyed a lot when they could
laugh, dance in the streets of the city, people went to see the concerts with their relatives,
they saw exhibitions and they came to observe the International Coffee Reign where the
most beautiful girls of the moment were presented, also to see the old parades and
musical shows of folklore national.

Colombia is a country that knew how to welcome bullfighting and that has several places
where it is practiced. It takes place in Bogotá, Medellín and Cali, among other cities, but
without a doubt Manizales is where it is strongest. Such was the impact that the bulls
managed to have in this culture.

International Coffee Reign

The central event of the Manizales Fair is the International Coffee Reign. A contest that
began as a continental reign where only candidates from South America participated.

Just as there is a parade of queens, there is a parade of chariots. But not just any car. These
famous caravans are made in a lot of Jeep Willys.

Manizales Fair without cavalcade, it is not a fair! That is clear to everyone. Just as there is a
strong bullfighting culture, there is a similar tradition with horses.
