Functionality of the month – Seismic calculator in Petrel 2005

• Cut seismic with one or two Example of equations for the Seismic calculator
horizons
• Combined two cubes together
with all the classical operation
available in the Petrel
calculator
• Bulk-shift a seismic volume
• Use a function created in Petrel
• Clip values

In that case, the Ants cube

and Amplitude cubes have
been merged using the
following formulas:

New=if (Ants > 0.8, U,

Amplitude)

U = Undefined value

This is very handy for a

better control of the 3D
autotracker as the faults are
really detected on the
amplitude

Tips of the month - How to update a model with a Zone log?

Well which has been

drilled and where
cuttings sampled
demonstrate that the well
penetrate only the good
sands within the “green”
layer (not the orange
zone below)

Now with Petrel 2005,

the log can be corrected
and by using Make Zone
/ Well Adjustment and
“Use zone logs”, the
model will be
automatically adjusted
with some specific
radius, threshold and
tolerance

Workflow of the Month - How to create a collision index property?

The calculator creates property with 0 or 1 around the well, so

we need to add these grids together in order to get the final
property. This is done by going under the Folder Settings and
Operation / SUM of all properties created.
