PROJECT PROPOSAL
(5) RATIONALE:
In response to the challenge brought about by the threat of COVID-19, the La Victoria High
School aims to encourage parents to set up a safe learning space at home for their children that
responds to recent learning experiences.
Public school learners are taking lessons at home, with strong emphasis on modular distance
learning. This contribution, on the initiative of the department of education, addresses the issue of
learners’ physical learning environment at home during the corona virus. It explains why a good,
serene physical learning space is an integral part of the learning environment, just like learning
content, school organization, school culture and school policy.
Since face-to-face classes are still not allowed, the department is using this as a model to
advance the basic education learning continuity plan (BE-LCP). It aims to provide quality distance
learning using self-learning modules in digital and printed form, radio, television, and the internet.
Also, with the implementation of the K to 12 Basic Education curriculum with an aim to
provide a safe and inclusive approaches, creating personal learning space at home is a must, so this
endeavour was conceptualized.
a. Engage partners in the promotion and provision of distance learning delivery modalities
b. Motivate and give due recognition to parents on their new role as learning facilitators to
implement home-based distance learning program of DepEd
c. Identify the most creative, economical and functional developed learning space at home
conducive for learning; and
d. Share the best practices in creating a functional developed learning space at home in this
time of pandemic
(7) PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The safe home learning spaces concept calls for the focus of instruction to shift from
classrooms to the learner’s home. A small space or corner in their house will be converted into a
“classroom” with parents, siblings of learners, and other relatives as facilitators using various
learning modalities.
The success of this search will be determined by using the criteria in selecting the best
learning space at home set be the proponent with the aid of class adviser.
(8) PROJECT OUTCOME
As the specific objectives of this endeavour, its outcome will be beneficial among the
learners by increasing their motivation and discipline in their studies while at home. It is
therefore, projected that there will be a positive result in students’ performance to learn and
support their learning activities, since they are likely to be motivated to do schoolwork if the
learning environment at home is conducive and comfortable. Moreover, it accommodates pre-
teaching and gives learners control over their learning process.
(9) METHODOLOGY
Each parent shall create a learning space at home with the guidance of class adviser. The
teacher must conduct an orientation to the parents explaining the guidelines and tips in setting up
a learning space like choosing a location based on child’s learning preferences, ensuring that the
learning space has good lighting, adding decorations, artwork, or anything else that might help
their children to stay motivated and be inspired, and if possible, the learning space should only
be used for learning.
All parents should send their documents directly to the adviser for monitoring and
reporting.
To implement effectively the selection process, a set of criteria is disseminated to all
concerned.
