House Color Effect on the Temperature Inside the House

• The purpose of this experiment is to find out if the color

of a house affects the temperature inside the house in
different environmental conditions and which color of the
house absorbs more or less heat. Miniature houses were
built from cardboard boxes and painted with different
colors, heated with a fluorescent lamp and temperature
was recorded inside the houses by a thermometer.
THE EFFECT OF ACID RAIN ON PLANTS

Plants are irrigated

with water mixed with
sulphuric acid, vinegar
and tap water
respectively.
Development of
plants is recorded and
graphed over time.
Does biodegradable plastic break down faster than
regular plastic?

• Biodegradable
“plastic” buttons are
prepared from cream
and white vinegar. The
biodegradable buttons
and regular plastic
buttons are placed on
top of damp potting
soil. Button condition is
compared over time.
Does biodegradable plastic break down faster than
regular plastic?

The purpose of this experiment is to show how biodegradable plastic

breaks down faster than regular plastic. It is important to start making
products that have biodegradable plastic because plastic sits in our
landfills and can take 200-400 years to degrade. This is harmful to the
Earth and to our environment! Not only does plastic take up so much
room in our landfills but it also can put harmful chemicals into the
ground when buried. If companies started producing goods with
biodegradable plastic then the plastic would decompose rather than
sit in a dump, in our oceans or underground. The information gained
form performing this experiment will help others by showing them how
using biodegradable plastic is better than using traditional petroleum
based plastics.

HYPOTHESIS

If I bury homemade
biodegradable plastic buttons
and non biodegradable
plastic buttons in soil samples
then the biodegradable
plastic buttons will break
down faster.
