Oral d’Anglais

The chapter begins when Michael is in the process of being arrested and going to jail. We
don't know exactly what time it is but we can deduce that it is 4pm because later in the
chapter Michael gets out of jail at 7pm. We also don't know what month it is and we can't
deduce. We know that it is Friday.

In this chapter the characters are:

-Michael
-Megan (employee at Naomi's center)
-Mordecai Green
-Gasko (policeman)
-5 prisoners (they are all black and they are in Michael's cell)
-3 prisoners (2 black and 1 white who are not in Michael's cell)
-ruby (she is a junkie)

In chapter 11 Michael is arrested for stealing the eviction file of Drake and Sweeney.
Michael goes to jail but he knows that Mordecai will bail him out.
Michael goes to a cell with 5 prisoners who are all black. Michael knows that something is
going to happen. One of the four prisoners hits Michael for his jacket. Michael doesn't want
to fight because he knows that if he fights the prisoner, the other four will join him. Another
prisoner tells Michael that offering the prisoner his jacket would be nice. Michael makes
one last big mistake and provokes the prisoner, who hits him again. Finally Michael gets
out of prison, with the help of Mordecai, for a cost of ten thousand dollars.

Later, after Michael is released from prison, he realises that Drake and Sweeney have told
the newspaper about Michael's prison story. Drake and Sweeney try to ruin Michael's life.
On his way to work Michael finds Ruby at the front door. Ruby doesn't speak and Michael
receives a call from Magan, who tells him that Ruby has run away from the detox center.
Michael knows that Ruby has taken drugs. Michael talks with Ruby and convinces her to
come back to the center.
When he arrives at the center, Magan takes Ruby in and offers Michael to stay for a
coffee. Michael and Megan discuss Michael's adventure in prison. During the discussion,
Michael notices that Megan doesn't have a ring and he finds her very attractive. Michael
wonders why he hadn't noticed this detail.
Then Megan talks about herself and her father who is in a church, probably a priest.
Megan decided to work with the poor. Towards the end of the conversation Michael talks
about Mister's story and how he started working with the homeless.

At the end of the chapter Megan invites Michael for a lunch. Michael believes that love can
be found anywhere, even in a shelter for homeless women.
