Reflection Paper on INSET Academic Year 2021-2022

Being a substitute teacher in the Department of

Education-Camiguin specifically in Mahinog National High
School is indeed a privilege and a big responsibility. As a
novice in this institution, I believe I have lots of things to cope
with, especially now that the Educational System has shifted
from the usual face to face classes to the modular way. With
this shift, there were lots of changes, adjustments in order to
address the learning of the students even in the midst of this
pandemic. Teachers from teaching in the four cornered
classroom turn to be module producers and module
distributers. Life is indeed challenging with this scenario, but praise God we have made it in the
first quarter.

Christmas is coming and Year End is fast approaching, with this the department
prepared an In-Service Training (INSET) which is good for 3 days via Google meet conference to
all its constituents, the teachers for the Academic Year 2021-2022. This training aims to
promote awareness to teachers on how to cope with the new normal way of teaching using
different platforms. It also brings back to our hearts and minds our oath of office as professional
teachers and it sees to it that we are working safely through the presentation of the different
Safety and Health Standards in the new normal set up.

On the first day of INSET the speaker in the person of Mr. Elson C. Jamero the ICT focal
in the DepEd Division of Camiguin introduced one of the online platform that would be used in
imparting learning to students in this new normal. He demonstrated how to make use of
Google Classroom platform and gave actual performance task that interested all the teachers.
This platform is indeed helpful since we will not need to print more modules. In short it is
paperless but its implementation to the learners is quite impossible because of the internet
connection factor. But at least we were informed and if chances will come that we can apply
this, we will be alien no more. Thank you Sir Elson for the new learning!

On the second day Ms’ Maria Leia T. Roxas our Administrative Officer V in the division bring back
to us the oath of office that we have as professional teachers. She emphasized the building of our
character as teachers, a teacher who is dignified, a teacher who is responsible and a teacher who is
committed. Her words maybe bold but it was a wake-up call for all of us teachers to be what we oat to
be as we are in our oath of office.

DepEd Camiguin also ensured that we teachers are safe in this time of crisis and so in
the third day we were presented with the different Safety and Health Standards in the new
normal in the person of Mr. Francisco C. Luspo Jr. As far as our concern to impart learning to
our students in this pandemic our safety and the safety of our students are still our utmost
priority. And so the Safety and Health Standards that were presented to us I believe is very
helpful to save lives. Life is a gift and so it must be treasured and be valued. We are blessed!
