Special Practices

• regularly done but are particularly applicable only (unique) to

specific crop or group of crops
FRUIT BAGGING

• involves enclosing or wrapping the fruits (either individually or as group)

with suitable materials

due to heavy load of fruits.
RATOONING

• the growing of new crop out of the shoots

arising from the previous crop.
• Advantages:
• saves time
• reduces cost of production
• Disadvantage:
• Lower yield
TRELLISING

• is a practice of providing support to the plant so that the stem and

leaves are kept away from the ground.
• Usually done in viny crops and crops that cannot stand vertically by
itself
• Objective:
• To allow better exposure of leaves to sunlight
• To avoid fruits from coming in contact with the soil.
FLOWER INDUCTION
• an effective way of
producing fruits even
during off-season.
• Various techniques:
• use of chemical
• modifying the
photoperiod
• pruning
• timing of irrigation

• Advantage:
• makes flowering in
