1565 Extension in the Philippines started.

Started with the establishment of Model


Farms or “Granja Modelos”.

The model farms served both


experimental stations of the Spanish
government & demonstrations for
farmers.
• 1923 the Demonstration Division was
changed to Agricultural Extension
Service
1923Maria Y. Orosa founded the home
extension in the Philippines
Commonwealth Period
1936 Commonwealth Act No. 85 created
the position of provincial agriculturist
1937 CA 85 authorized each province to
hire home demonstrators
1938Bureau of animal Industry
organized it’s own extension
activities creating the Livestock
Extension Division
1941Bureau of Plant Industry
extension service covered fresh
vegetables, corn, rice tobaco
Post –war Post War
1947 the 4-H club was established
1949 An Economic survey Mission
led by Daniel W. Bell
recommended agricultural
extension services of the
government to be consolidated
1952 Republic Act No. 680 created
the Bureau Of Agricultural
Extension (BAEx)
