1. Three (3) Things that I significantly learned from the readings

The first thing I learned is the distinction between Science and Technology and how the
two came in History. Science is basically the understanding of a concept while
Technology is the application of that concept into practical use in the real world. It should
also be noted that Technology has been done without Science although in the current
times Science and Technology come hand in hand for the progress in research. The next
thing I learned is how scientists can research something with good intention, but it still
depends on the government and funds on how their research will be used. A good
example shown in the article was the atomic bomb and how scientists can fulfill their role
by sharing their research to the public and how it can be used for the public. The last
thing I learned is how big of an impact scientist have in society. In the article, Eugenics
was a concept not fully backed up with evidence, yet the scientists remain to support it
with a political or social motive instead of researching for the public and the possible
implications it can be used for .

2. Three (3) Things that are still unclear to me

First, how does the relationship between science, technology and innovation work.
Second thing that is unclear to me is can the scientists dictate how their researches can
and cannot be used since only those with funds and the government can dictate how.
Third thing unclear to me is how politics and science are in opposition when in reality it
should be working together for the greater good of society .

3. I used to think that….

I used to think that Science and Technology are no different from one another since
The two terms have been used a lot together. But through the article, I now understand
the difference between the two and how technology can begin without science, but at the
same time how science can be used to improve technology .

4. Three (3) questions that I want to ask about the readings

First question, how do scientists draw the line on what is safe to research? Do they defer
to the public or follow their own moral compass? Second Question, besides of informing
the public of the social and technological implications of their research, do scientist have
any more social obligations and what are they? Third Question, with so much opposition
such as the media and politics, how will science continue to progress?
