Why the Future Doesn't Need Us

Title of the Article

1. Difficult Concepts (What concepts did you find difficult to understand?)

i. Giving robots the authority to rule over humans
ii. Theories engaging human extinction
iii. The New Luddite Challenge

2. Insights (What new insights or learning did you gain in discussion/ activity?)

i. Before reading the article/understanding the lesson, I thought that the possibility of
human extinction is simply a theory that can be seen in movies. However, reading the
article/understanding the lesson, I now think/realize Because of us, it is possible in
certain ways. The fact that we want to develop ourselves, live as long as we want, and do
anything we want with technology lends credence to the hypothesis of human extinction.
Because when our world becomes technology-based, everything we do manually will be
gone, and the way we live will be entirely automated, humans may become extinct
because only humans remain who are not integrated with technology. Systems, too, will
be programmed. Everything we do, everything we feel.

ii. Before reading the article/understanding the lesson, I thought that There is no chance that
robots will take over the world. That they shall be the rulers of mankind. However,
reading the article/understanding the lesson, I now think/realize that there is a chance
Because, according to the article, robots will get increasingly smart over time, to the
point where humans will become reliant on them. It doesn't matter if it's a singular
decision or their entire lives. As a result, the possibility of mankind being ruled by robots
exists. However, according to the report, anyone can have their own private robots to use
based on their opinions. Presumably, high-class individuals, because they are the ones
who are prioritized when it comes to technology. Whether they will use it against
humanity or for humanity remains to be seen.
iii. Before reading the article/understanding the lesson, I thought that machines couldn't
make decisions. However, reading the article/understanding the lesson, I now
think/realize Our lives may be endangered as a result of computer scientists' progress in
creating intelligent machines. For example, there is a program machine that can create
another program. However, they were obliged to take it down since it was developing its
own language. That is how perilous technologies are. They are free to make their own
decisions. And we, as people, are increasingly reliant on technology. And if our world
does not require humans in the future, or if animals begin to become extinct, well, good
luck to us.
3. Questions (What questions would you want answers for? Or vague areas you want more
explanations about?
i. Is it possible to alter the future? Is there a future in which there isn't as much technology
as there is now?
ii. How can we prevent massive advances in science and technology that claim to be for our
benefit but can still damage us?
iii. What will the future be like if people don't exist?
