WHAT WILL OUR SOCIETY LOOK LIKE WHEN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IS

EVERYWHERE?
Topic/Lesson

1. Difficult Concepts (What concepts did you find difficult to understand?)

a. Singularity

2. Insights (What new insights or learnings did you gain in discussion/ activity?)

i. Before reading the article/understanding the lesson, I thought that the A.I that they
would expect are like those on Sci-fi films where it would result to a post-apocalyptic
scenario, where everyone is blinded by technology, and a group of people would
realized that they are being controlled by A.I.
However, reading the article/understanding the lesson, I now think/realize that it is
much more complicated than those Sci-fi films. Every technology that mankind
continue to further improve is beneficial to us. It improves our lives. In the future
where it will be more advanced and function as A.I it would be our companion.
Natural things or occurrences that all we know in life will be changed. The usual
things we know will change. It may be the reason why most of us oppose the advances
of Technology, because it is an unusual change to the natural things that we know.

ii. Before reading the article/understanding the lesson, I thought that at some point where
A.I is so advanced that they can function like a human or even more than a human,
then the fear that we expected that they would destroy the world will happen. They
would be violent and merciless. Thus, we must limit their capabilities for to stay in
control.
However, reading the article/understanding the lesson, I now think/realize that it is
much more complicated than things resulting to a post-apocalyptic scenario. If A.I
become more advanced that they understand, our emotions, our actions, our routines,
and our decisions, that they are like our companions in the future, then why would
they be violent to us. I do think that there will be A.I that would be evil, because
humans can also be evil and they may acquire that trait from us as well. But it doesn’t
mean that one A.I whose evil can make all the other A.I evil as well. If they function
enough to have their identity and recognize their existence and their own rights we
could treat A.I like a new kind of species. It can be a risky change but if humans do
well and approached it carefully, then it may not result to a scenario where we always
imagined it to be bad. iii. If it is such a great risk for the advancement of A.I, then
humans must make a limit or span of the A.I to limit their process of acquiring
knowledge and still put us in control.

3. Questions (What questions would you want answers for? Or vague areas you want more
explanations about?
i. In the term singularity, how would mankind know that they already have
approached it? What is the basis that the technology we have obtained is superior
and would result to the greatest advancement?

ii. If the A.I have acquired our traits because it learns from us, why would they turn
their backs on us and unite to destroy the earth for their own goals? They already
have feeling they can be empathetic to us.
