Chapter 1 [Sexy Beast #5: Phantom Nightr...]

Coraline Lazaro, Cora for short. She's been an A straight student from elementary
to college. Has never broken any rules and has never dated anyone. Many boys tried
to court her but she has always rejected them because she preferred studying than
dating—and also, she wasn't interested because she has already reserved herself to
the Lord.
Yes, that's right. She wants to be a servant of the Lord that's why after she
graduated, she told her parents that she wants to enter the convent and become a
nun. Her parents were shocked at first because they thought that she was going to
pursue becoming a prosecutor. Nalungkot din sila but they didn't refuse because she
had already convinced them that she really wants this—and kind of guilty-tripped
them that she's already followed everything that they asked her to do all
throughout her life.
"Cora, are you really sure about this?" her Mother popped the question while
they're eating their breakfast. She's been asking her that same question ever since
she told them that she was going to the convent. She nodded her head and smiled at
her mother.
"Yes mama, I really want to serve God." she said. Her parents sighed and forced a
smile.
She also feels guilty. She knows that they have high expectations of her but she
really wants to be a servant of the Lord, and not a prosecutor.
"Your poor manliligaws are going to cry blood once they found out about this." She
chuckled upon hearing her Mother's words.
Obviously, her Mother is trying to guilt-trip her using that but unfortunately,
that's not going to work.
They were in the middle of eating their breakfast when her twin arrived.
And yes, she also does have a twin. But unlike any twins, they don't have the same
personalities, they're actually the complete opposite of each other. Her twin
sister, Caroline, is very outgoing and enjoys partying outside. She has no interest
in studying and she dates a lot of boys—like a lot.
While Coraline likes to use simple, long dresses, her twin Caroline likes—no,
scratch that, loves wearing outfits that would expose her skin. Caroline is the
black sheep of their family.
"Wow, my anghel-anghelan twin sis is still here." She said with a sarcastic smile
plastered on her face. Coraline sighed.
She also forgot to add that her twin sister hates her to the core. Well, she wasn't
always like this. They actually used to be close until they reached the fifth grade
and Caroline suddenly changed.
"I thought you're going to leave today? What about the convent?" Her twin sister
said as if she's mocking her.
"Carol!" Our Mother shouted.
"What? I thought she's going to the convent. Are you sad mama? Na magiging madre
yang paborito mong anak?"
"Caroline stop talking to your Mother like that!" It was their Father who shouted
this time. Coraline sighed and stopped eating.
"I'll be leaving at noon ate Carol." She said and smiled at her. The smile on her
twin's face disappeared and she glared at her.
"Let's eat?" Aya niya rito but Carol just rolled her eyes and proceeded to her
room.
"She comes home late at hindi pa nagmamano sa mga magulang! You're twins but you're
the total opposite of each other!" Galit na sigaw ng kanyang ama.
"Hon, baka stressed lang si Caroline sa school." Their mama said, trying to calm
their father down.
"Stressed? Sa school?! She's been skipping school to go to her parties!"
"Papa, calm down... try to understand Caroline, maybe she's going through
something. Just calm down, bawal sa'yo ang magalit, masama yan para sa puso mo."
She said to her father. Huminga naman ito nang malalim at tsaka nagpatuloy sa
pagkain.
After finishing our breakfast and after washing the dishes. She was about to enter
her room when her twin suddenly blocked the door. Nagtatakang tinignan niya ito.
"You're leaving today right?"
She sighed.
Gusto na talaga nitong umalis ako.
She nodded her head and smiled at her twin.
"Yes."
Caroline rolled her eyes and cringed but that expression suddenly changed. Her twin
suddenly grinned at her.
"I have a gift for you sis. It'll be arriving anytime today. Have fun in the...
convent..." She said before leaving. Nangunot ang kanyang noo sa sinabi ng kanyang
kakambal. Para kasing may pinapahiwatig ito.
She sighed and shook jer head.
Maybe it's just me. Caroline loves to taunt me, maybe she's just taunting me this
time.

Nagpaalam na siya sa kanyang mga magulang. She was actually planning to say her
goodbyes to her sister ngunit nang bisitahin niya ito sa kwarto nito, wala na iyon
don.
Ite-text ko nalang siya mamaya.

She was waiting for a taxi nang biglang may dumating na McLaren 570s at nag-park sa

Akmang maglalakad sana siya papalayo nang bigla nalang siya nitong hilahin. Nanlaki
ang kanyang mga mata nang bigla nalang siya nitong kinarga na parang sako.
"Ay!"
"You woman! You stole my Lamborghini Veneno Roadster! Pinainom mo ako ng pampatulog
para makuha mo ang susi ko sa bulsa ko tsaka mo tinangay ang kotse ko!" He shouted
at her nang makapasok sila sa kotse nito.
She stole his car?

She doesn't drink and she can't even drive...
Oh no...
"S-Sir, I think you're talking about my twin, she's—" Her words was cut off when he
glared at her. Nag-igting ang panga nito at kitang-kita sa mga mata nito ang galit.
She bit her lower lip.
What did her twin do this time?!
"Shut up woman! You're going to pay for that!" He shouted. Bigla naman nitong
binilisan ang pagmamaneho kaya't napahawak siya sa nang mahigpit sa upuan tsaka
siya nagdasal.
"Diyos ko po, iligtas niyo po kami sa kapahamakan. Pakalmahin niyo po ang lalaking
katabo ko ngayon. Kung ano mang nagawa ni Caroline sakanya ay sana'y patawaranin
niya na rin ito—Aray!"
"Patawarin?! Do you know how much that car costs?! It costs $9.5 Million!"
Napanganga siya nang malaman ang presyo nito.
"You're going to pay for it!"
"H-How? Wala akong pera."
The man glared at her ngunit dahan-dahan itong ngumisi.

lalaki. She was expecting him to do something worst—like torture her or call the
Police but...
"Clean my house, be my personal assistant. You're not allowed to leave this house—
ever, and you can't escape or I'll call the Police." He said while staring at her.
She facepalmed and sighed.
"Can you let me explain first? You got the wrong person."
"I wasn't drunk last night, I was drugged to sleep. Which means that, I clearly
remember your face, even without the makeup on." He said and sat on the sofa in
front of her.
She sighed and shook her head.
"Again, you got the wrong person. That was Caroline, she's my twin sister. Hindi
ako marunong mag-drive, plus, I was in my room the whole night." She tried to
explain to him but he just smirked and put on his headphones. Nanlaki ang kanyang
mga mata nang bigla itong nag-sign na manahimik siya.
Napatingin siya sa kanyang relo at napanganga nang makita ang oras. She's late!
Galit na nilapitan niya ang lalake. Napatingin ito sa kanya.

"Listen to me! I need to go!" She shouted dahil ang lakas ng musika na
pinapakinggan nito. The man just smirked and mouthed 'I can't hear you'.
Lord, please forgive me for what I am about to do. She prayed and let out a deep
breath before making a move.
Nanggagalaiting tinanggal niya ang headphones nito. Alam niyang mali ang kanyang
ginawa ngunit kailangan na kailangan niya nang umalis. At isa pa, hindi naman
talaga siya ang may kasalanan sa nangyari. It wasn't her who stole this man's car!
It was her twin sister's doing! Caroline just framed her!
She gulped when the man suddenly glared at her.
"I need to go—ah!" Her eyes widened when the man pulled her arms and she's suddenly
laying on the sofa. Her eyes widened when she realized that he's on top of her. She
tried to stand but she's trapped in his arms.
"Tell me about your so-called-twin sister." He said—almost whispering.
Nahigit niya ang kanyang hininga nang bigla nitong nilapit ang mukha nito sa
kanyang mukha. His nose is already touching the tip of her nose. Isang maling galaw
niya lang, magkakadikit na ang labi nilang dalawa!
His dark brown hair fell over his face, masking his icy blue eyes. Kaagad niyang
naramdaman na nag-init ang kanyang mga pisngi dahil sa paraan ng pagtingin nito sa
kanya.
There was something about the way he stares at her that's making her uncomfortable.
"Tell me." He said again.
"I-I'm Coraline Lazaro and my t-twin's name is Caroline. I-I swear, you got the
wrong person. I-I d-don't like to go to bars and I don't drive—I don't know how. P-
Plus, I-I'm actually on the way to the convent and become a nun." Paputol-putol
niyang sabi sa lalaki. Nakaka-nerbyos kasi ang paraan ng pagtingin nito sa kanya at
tsaka ang lapit-lapit ng mga mukha nila sa isa't-isa!
"Become a nun huh?" he said. Nanlaki naman bigla ang kanyang mga mata nang mas lalo
nitong ipaglapit ang kanilang mga mukha. Shoot! Their lips are just few millimeters
away from touching each other!
Nakagat niya ang kanyang labi at napapikit siya tsaka siya napadasal.
"Lord please save me from this temptation, please forgive me for what I've done,
please guide me—"
Naputol ang kanyang pagdadasal nang bigla niyang marinig ang lalaki na tumatawa.
Nangunot ang kanyang noo at dahan-dahan niyang inimulat ang kanyang mga mata. The
man is holding his stomach while laughing.
Nababaliw na ba ito?
Umalis ito sa kanyang ibabaw at tsaka nagpagulong-gulong kakatawa. Nagtatakang

tinignan niya ito. When he's not laughing, he looks scary and intimidating but
looking at him right now, he looks... childish?
"Y-You're funny." He said before wiping the tears from his eyes. She tilted her
head in confusion.
Ano bang ginawa niyang nakakatawa para humagalpak ito kakatawa? Wala naman ah?
Nagdasal lamang siya.
"Alright. Seeing how you're acting right now... convinced me that you're really not
the one who stole my car."
She nodded her head multiple times. Finally! Na-realize na rin nito!
"But you could be just acting though..." Bumagsak ang kanyang mga balikat sa sinabi
nito.
She doesn't even know how to act and she's a really bad liar! She can't lie!
Sinamaan niya ito ng tingin. The man raised both of his hands in the air as a sign
of surrender.
"Alright, so where's your twin sister?" he sat on the floor and stared at me.
Kaagad naman akong naupo nang maayos sa sofa. I cleared my throat.
"I-I don't know exactly where she is right now." Sagot niya rito. Nangunot naman
ang noo nito at akmang magsasalita nang kaagad niya itong inunahan.
"B-But! We'll find her! I'll give you her number!"
Naningkit ang mga mata nito. Kaagad niya naming kinuha ang kanyang cellphone mula
sa kanyang bulsa at tsaka hinanap ang picture nilang dalawa ni Caroline. Well,
that's not actually just the two of them—it was a family picture. Caroline hated to
take a picture with her so they never had any recent pictures aside from the family
photo that they got during New Year's Eve.
Kaagad niyang binigay ang kanyang cellphone dito.

The guy looked at the phone and raised a brow. Nilapitan niya ito at tsaka itinuro
kung nasaan siya.
"This is me, and Caroline's this one." I said while pointing at my screen.
"Hmm... you guys are easy to differentiate."
"I know right?"
"Yeah, she's sexy and you look boring."
Sinamaan niya ito ng tingin. Ba't nakaka-offend?
She just smiled at the guy and grabbed her phone from his hand.
"Now... can I go?"
"Alright. My bad."
She smiled.
Yes! Makakaabot pa siya!
"Let me take you there."
Nangunot ang kanyang noo.
"Where?"
"To the convent? I need at least do that for you. After all, I grabbed the wrong
person."
She sighed. Alright Coraline, si God nga kayang magpatawad, ikaw pa kaya?
She was hesistant but she ended up accepting his offer.
"Ah, before we go, sign this paper first." Her eyebrow raised in confusion.
"It's just a 'testimony' that you're really not the one who stole my car. Just sign
it."
May ibinigay itong papel sa kanya. She read what was written on it. It's true,
parang testimony lang na hindi talaga siya ang tumangay sa kotse nito.
Wait, when did he prepare this? She shrugged off the question in her head.
Kailangan niya nang umalis.
After reading the paper, she immediately signed it.

Habang nasa kotse silang dalawa. Hindi mapigilan ni Coraline na mapatingin sa

lalakeng nasa gilid niya. Unlike earlier, his face is calmer. He doesn't look scary
or intimidating anymore.
He's actually really handsome.
"Take a picture if you want to." He said.
Nanlaki ang kanyang mga mata at kaagad siyang umiwas ng tingin dito.
Heck! She was staring at his face for too long!
She cleared her throat before talking.
"What's your name by the way?"
"Phantom Nightray."
Nangunot ang kanyang noo. His last name sounds oddly familiar. Napatingin siya
rito, saglit naman itong tumingin sa kanya at ngumiti.
"Familiar?"
"Yes."
"Nightray Restaurant .You know, the restaurant with the three Michelin stars."
Nanlaki ang kanyang mga mata. Oh shoot! That's him?!

"Y-You're that chef!"
He showed me a hushing sign.
"I look different right?"
Paulit-ulit siyang tumango. He's that chef from the Television! He's the owns three
restaurants with three Michelin stars!

"Let's keep it our dirty little secret shall we?"
She nodded her head.
Kaya pala ang mahal-mahal ng kotse nito! This man is a rich man!
A few minutes later, nakarating na sila sa harapan ng kumbento.
"We're here." He said to her. Nauna na itong bumaba sa kotse at tsaka siya
pinagbuksan ng pintuan. Nagulat pa siya nung una pero pinasalamatan niya na lamang
ito.
Mabait naman pala, galit na galit lang talaga siguro ito kanina.
"Thank you." Pagpapasalamat niya kay Phantom. Phantom just smiled at her.
Hindi na siya nagsalitang muli, kaagad niya na itong tinalikuran at tsaka siya
dumiretso sa kumbento but before walking away from Phantom, may sinabi ito na hindi
niya narinig. Binalewala niya na lamang ito.
She knocked and a seconds later, the door or the convent opened. Isang madre ang
nakangiting sinalubong siya sa pintuan.
"Mother. I'm Coraline."
Ngumiti ito.
"I thought you weren't coming. Pasok hija." She smiled and was about to enter the
door when she felt a presence behind her. Nilingon niya ito at nangunot ang kanyang
noo nang makita si Phantom.
"She isn't coming, Mother."
Nagtatakang tinignan niya ito. Phantom suddenly unfolded a paper and showed it to
them.
"Marriage Contract..."
Nanlaki ang kanyang mga mata. Phantom smirked.
"We're getting married."
"Ha?!"

Phantom sighed upon hearing his Mother's words.
His name is Phantom Nightray, the only son of the Elein and Kristof Nightray. He is
currently the richest bachelor in the Philippines. He owns a restaurant with three
Michelin stars and is a renowned chef in the field. But here he is, still being
treated like a child by his Mother.
He wanted to have their family company under his name but his Mother won't give it
to him despite of his achievements in life unless he gets married. That's just
plain stupid.
He can get all the women that he wants—but he doesn't want to get married. Not now,
not ever. But he's being forced due to his parent's demands.
Yes, mayaman na siya and he's already one of the most renowned chefs in the whole
world but he still wants more.
"I won't get married." He said with finality in his voice.

"No marriage, no company. Stick with what you have right now." His Mother said
while sipping her Dom Pérignon Rose Gold champagne." He sighed. He looked at his
Father but his Father just shrugged his shoulder and continued on eating.

Phantom decided to go to a bar together with his friend, Crowley. Crowley is also a
chef and also owns a restaurant like him, but unlike him, Crowley isn't forced by
his parents to get married.
He sighed and drank his beer. He already told his friend about his problem at
nakinig naman ito. Crowley is a great listener and would try to understand the
speaker's problem kaya ito ang kanyang piniling kausapin.
"If you don't want to get married, how about you go for a marriage contract?"
Crowley said while looking at him. Nakakunot ang noong napatingin siya sa kanyang
kaibigan. Phantom was hoping that Crowley was just joking but Crowley's expression
didn't change. He's looking at him seriously.
"Wait... are you being serious right now?" He said and tried to clean his ears.
Baka namali lang siya ng pagdinig dahil malakas ang patunog sa bar.
Crowley clicked his tongue and faced him.
"It'll be convenient for you. Register your marriage in a country where divorce is
legal and then after you get the company from your parents, divorce her. It's that
easy. Don't hold any ceremonies and don't announce it."
'Boy, Crowley is scary sometimes.' He said to himself.
"Alright, tell me where I can get a woman who'll agree to that."
"Just give them money, trust me, there are a lot of women out there, who will agree
to do that for money." He gave Crowley a disappointed look. Crowley just smirked
and shrugged.

that it's expensive so beware." Crowley said to him.
"What about her?"
"She's your target for that marriage contract thingy."
"Wait what? You just said that she's known for being a prankster, I ain't messing
with that kind of woman."
"I'm just helping ya. It might work, you know?" Crowley said before leaving.
Phantom sighed and he clicked his tongue.
"I am not doing it."

"I can't believe that I'm actually doing this." He whispered to himself while
looking at the paper in front of him. It's the marriage contract that Crowley told
him to print.
Napatampal siya sa kanyang noo. He can't believe that he's doing this marriage
contract thingy, he isn't the type to do so but it seems that he has no choice
anymore. Crowley wouldn't recommend doing it unless it won't work so wala siyang
choice. It might work, somehow.
He's now sitting inside his Lamborghini Veneno Roadster while waiting for his
target to arrive outside the bar.
At exactly eleven pm, his target arrived. He cringed upon seeing the woman. She's
wearing an outfit that is too exposed—halos nakaluwa na ang boobs ng babae.
"Dang it."
Phantom let out a breath before exiting his car. He folded the paper and put it
inside his pants' pocket.

The logical side and emotional side of his brain are fighting. Should he really do
this? Is this shit really going to work?
He sighed. He was about to make his move when he felt someone touching his nape.
Napalingon siya rito.
"It's you!" He said without thinking. Nangunot naman ang noo ng babae.
"Me?"
It's her! The Caroline girl! His target!
"I-I mean..." His words were cut off when she put her pointing finger on his lips.
"Sshh... let's drink, shall we?"
"Y-Yeah."

"What did she steal this time?"

Napatulala nalang si Phantom sa parking space kung saan naka-park kanina ang
kanyang kotse. He got drugged to sleep by that woman. They were just drinking when
he passed out. When he woke up, his car is already gone—stolen by that woman.
'Damn it, Crowley wasn't lying when he said that she steals cars!'
A man tapped on his shoulder and gave him a note.
"She left this for you. Don't worry, you're gonna get your car back in a day or
two." He said and smiled at me.
When he left, I opened the note and read what was written on it.
'xxx G.A Village, xxx City. This is my address, see you there hotstuff.' With a
lipstick mark on the end of the note.
He crumpled the paper in his hand.
That freaking wench! She's going to pay for what she did!

Hindi napigilan ni Coraline na mapabuntong-hininga habang nakatingin sa

saradong pintuan ng kumbento. She's sitting on a bench in front of the convent with
Phantom who's just whistling beside her as if he's done nothing wrong.
She's waited for a very long, long time to enter the convent and to train to become
a nun and this guy... This handsome guy just blew everything up.
Napatampal siya sa kanyang noo. She really wasn't expecting things to turn out like
this. She was sure that she read the agreement before signing it!
She glared at the man beside her. Nakita niya namang napalunok ito.
"Talk."
"There was a hidden contract on the paper that you signed earlier. The agreement on
the top was just a sticker." Tuloy-tuloy nitong pagsabi. Nangunot naman ang kanyang
noo.
"Sticker?"
Phantom nodded his head and showed her the paper and pointed at the faded line.
"You ended up signing on the paper, I thought you were going to notice, but you
didn't."
She closed her eyes and inhaled. She's really trying her best not to snap right
now. She hasn't been angry for years. She has been patient to everyone including
her twin sister but this?
"Why me?" tanong niya rito.
"Actually, it wasn't supposed to be you—it was supposed to be your twin, Caroline."
Nangunot ang kanyang noo. Wait? He knows that she has a twin?!
"You!"
Phantom stood up and raised his hands to the air.
"Alright, I didn't know that she has a twin sister. I wouldn't just grab a woman on
the streets when she has a twin, I had to make sure first."
"Paano mo nalaman ang address?"
"You—I mean, your twin sister left a note with your address inside when I woke up
after being drugged to sleep."
She sighed. All of these are because of her twin sister. She's a hundred percent
sure that Caroline set her up. She snatched her phone from her pocket and tried to
dial her twin's number ngunit cannot be reached na iyon. She contacted her Mother
next and after just a few seconds, her Mother answered the call.
"Coraline! My daughter, are you already in the convent?"
'Yeah, outside the convent.'
Hindi na siya sumagot. She hates lying kaya dinodge niya nalang ang tanong ng
kanyang ina.
"Where's Caroline mama?" Tanong niya rito. Narinig niya ang pagbuntong-hininga ng
kanyang ina sa kabilang linya.
"She left the country without telling us. She just left a note. Your father's still
trying to contact his friend to track your sister."
Napatampal siya sa kanyang noo nang marinig ang mga sinabi ng kanyang ina.
"She also left a note... for you."
"What does it say?"

"Good luck on finding the car. What's this?"
She ran hair fingers through her hair out of frustration.
"Alright mama, I'll call you again in a while." She said before ending the call.
Napatingin siya kay Phantom na nagtatakang nakatingin sa kanya.
"So? Where is your twin?" Tanong nito sa kanya at humakbang papalapit sa kanya. She
gulped.
"S-She's out of the country..." She answered and slowly looked away from Phantom.
Para kasi siyang nalulunod sa mga mata nito.
"And the car?"
She gulped again and let out a deep breath.
"I-I don't know where it is..." she whispered.
"Can you pay for it?"
She shook her head and bit her lips.
"Can your parents pay for it?"
Technically, they can, but she doesn't want that. It's not her parents' fault that
Caroline stole a car. Plus, mab-bankrupt sila kapag ang mga magulang niya ang
nagbayad doon. She sighed and bit her lips even more.

Saglit na nanahimik ang lalake, Coraline was really ready to get hit or get shouted
ngunit hindi iyon ang nangyari. Her eyes widened when Phantom suddenly lifted her
chin using his finger and kissed her.
"W-What the..."
"That's a part of the contract."

"You said, you, nor your parents can't pay for it. So, you have no other choice."
Phantom said while smirking at her. She sighed and slowly nodded her head.
She waited for twenty eight years to become a nun, another one year wouldn't
hurt...
"Marriage it is then."

They reached Phantom's house—again to talk about the contract that she accidentally
signed earlier. She's sitting on the sofa while Phantom's standing in front of her
with the contract in his hand.
"First, we'll get married abroad—some country where divorce is legal."
This is really going to taint her clean reputation. Her... a divorcee...
She sighed.
"Second, you need to follow everything that I say, do what I tell you to do."
"But—"
"You already signed it, there's no changing the rules anymore so next... we need to
act like real lovers in front of my parents. If I kiss you, you can't object, if
you do, then that's considered as breach of contract and you'll need to pay the
fine of $9.5 million—yes, that's the price of my car." He said with a smile
plastered on his face.

She ended up sleeping in Phantom's house. Hindi niya kasi alam kung ano ang
kanyang sasabihin sa kanyang mga magulang. Akala ng mga ito ay nasa kumbento na
siya and not in some rich man's house.

The bed is huge. King-sized one but to prevent him from sleeping really close to

Napangiwi siya nang maramdamang masakit iyon. Phantom pulled away immediately.

nito.
Dahan-dahan siyang gumalaw ulit. She made sure that his thing wouldn't hit that
painful part again. Slowly, her body adjusted to his manhood inside her. Nakagat

ganon iyon kasarap. Maybe that's also the reason why her twin sister loves to have

Ipinatong ni Phantom ang palad nito sa kanyang noo at ngumiti.

Phantom didn't answer her question. He just continued on cooking.
"Phantom... 'di ba sa abroad tayo ikakasal? Wedding na natin this week right?"
tanong niya rito. Wala kasing kung anong preparations na nangyari at tsaka wala rin
siyang natanggap na itinerary.
"Postponed ba yung plano?" tanong niyang muli rito. Phantom sighed and turned off
the stove.
"Yes, it's been postponed to next week because you got sick." Sagot nito sa kanya
without facing her.
"O...kay? Saan tayo ikakasal Phantom?"
"Here in the Philippines."
"W-What? But the contract—"
Phantom faced her and smirked.
"Phantom! Walang divorce dito sa Pinas."
"There's annulment."
"Those two things are different! Annulment is different than divorce—"
"Really? Sounds the same to me. The partners will get separated either way."
Napanganga siya sa sinabi ni Phantom. Just what the heck is this man thinking?!

Phantom approached her at tsaka nito inilapit ang mukha nito sa kanyang mukha.

since what happened between them, Phantom hasn't gone out. Sa bahay lang nito
ginagawa ang mga trabaho nito, including taking business calls and reviewing
emailed business proposals, nakikipag-video call nalang din ito sa mga business
partners nito when there's a business meeting.
"Alright, I'll be visiting the branch on Tuesday. Make sure everything's going
smoothly while I'm not there. Keep the consistency of the food. Alright?" rinig
niyang sabi ni Phantom sa kausap nito tsaka nito ibinaba ang tawag. Akmang
lalapitan niya ito upang makipag-usap tungkol sa kontrata nang biglang mag-ring ang
isa pa nitong phone.
She sighed. He's a busy, rich man.
Ba't ba kasi hindi nalang ito umalis? Hindi naman siya tatakas ah.
While talking to the phone, Phantom's eyes shifted to her. Nanlaki ang kanyang mga
mata nang bigla nalang siya nitong kindatan at ngitian. She bit her lip and
immediately looked away.
Bakit bigla siyang na-awkward? Dati naman wala siyang pakialam sa mga ganong tricks
ng mga lalaki, nandidiri pa nga siya e kasi ang corny at ang landi pero bakit kay
Phantom, imbes na ngumiwi ay bigla nalang siyang... kinilig? Ang bilis din ng
pagtibok ng kanyang puso, para siyang tumakbo ng marathon! Bakit ganun?!
She shook her head. She's sure it's nothing, nabigla lang siguro talaga siya.
Coraline let out a deep breath and tried to calm her heart that was beating so fast
when she felt Phantom's arms encircling around her waist from behind. He then
buried his face on her neck and planted small kisses there.
"Phantom—"
"I'm tired... let me rest for a while please?"

Nakakunot ang noong nakatingin si Coraline kay Phantom. He's talking to

someone on the phone—probably, talking to his business partners again.
Ba't kasi hindi nalang ito lumabas at bisitahin ang branch nito? Hindi niya tuloy
mapigilang isipin na sinasadya talaga nitong hindi umalis sa bahay dahil
binabantayan siya nito.
Is he scared that she might escape?
She shook her head and scoffed. Kahit na gustuhin niyang tumakas, he already knows
a lot about her including where she lives and even her connections.
"Alright. Bye." Phantom then ended the call and approached her. She's sitting on
the sofa while reading her Bible. Nanlaki naman ang kanyang mga mata nang bigla
nalang 'yong hinila ni Phantom mula sa kanyang mga kamay at tsaka iyon ipinasok sa
bulsa nito. Nagulat naman siya nang bigla siyang bigyan nito ng magazine.
"What the..."
"Read that and choose."

Nangunot ang kanyang noo. Coraline looked at the magazine and realized that it was
a wedding gown magazine.
"You need to choose a gown." Phantom said at tsaka ito tumabi sa kanya. Her eyes
widened when he placed his head on her shoulder. Napatingin siya rito and Phantom
just looked up. He touched the tip of her nose before talking.
"Choose."
"Oh..." Oh?! What was that Coraline?! She sighed and bit her lower lip. Hindi niya
alam kung bakit but whenever their eyes meet, para siyang nawawala sa kanyang
sarili. These past few days, Phantom's been acting weird. He's being clingy and he
even removed the pillows that would divide them on his bed. He's been following her
everywhere, kulang nalang sundan siya nito sa banyo pag sinasabi niyang maliligo
siya!
Hindi naman siya nagagalit sa ginagawa nito, he's not harassing her ngunit ang
problema ay ayun na nga, para siyang nawawala sa focus. Everytime Phantom hugs her
and is being playful with her, parang nakakalimutan niya na ang original plan niya—
to be a nun.
She sighed and opened the magazine. Magaganda ang mga gowns na 'yon ngunit hindi
niya mapigilan ang kanyang pagngiwi nang makita niya ang mga presyo 'non. The
prices of those gowns ranges from $500,000 to $10 Million!
Napatingin siya kay Phantom, nangunot naman ang noo nito.
"Don't you like the gowns?"
"N-No, it's not like that... ang mahal kasi. Sobrang mahal. I don't like that."
Sabi niya rito at tsaka niya isinara ang magazine. Nagulat naman siya nang bigla
nalang itong hinila ni Phantom at binuksang muli.
"Phantom, what are you doing?"

Her jaw almost dropped to the floor. Ano ba'ng tumatakbo sa isip ng lalaking 'to?
She really couldn't predict this man, his mind works differently and weirdly.
"This one—" he flipped the magazine and pointed a white mermaid gown. "—this will
look great on you. The gown will show your perfect... curves." Nangunot ang kanyang
noo. Ang weird kasi ng pagkakasabi ni Phantom ng mga salitang 'yon. Parang may
halong... pagnanasa?
She immediately shook her head. She tried to look for the price but Phantom covered
it with his thumb.
"Phantom..." she said with a warning tone in her voice. Phantom smirked.
"I can afford it babe, don't worry."
Isa pa 'yon, he also started calling her babe instead of calling her by her name.
Natampal niya ang kanyang noo. She just nodded her head. Wala naman siyang magagawa
e, it's not like Phantom would listen to her.
Living with Phantom made her notice some things about him. He's actually a sleepy
head at ang kapag wala na itong masabi, Phantom would scratch the back of his head
and smile. He's a talker—sobrang hilig nitong magkwento about his childhood and his
past experiences. Phantom also really loves to cook and to experiment food dishes.
Kahit siguro bigyan ito ng bagoong, kaya nitong i-transform para maging $300 dish

Malinis din itong lalaki, hindi pa siya nakaka-gising ay gising na ito. He wakes up
around five or six a.m to clean the house and cook their breakfast. For short,
hindi ito tamad. Minsan nga'y nahihiya na siya rito because she's such a heavy
sleeper.
No wonder Phantom Nightray is such a successful man, it's because of his traits.
Tama ang pagpapalaki ng mga magulang nito dito.
Phantom kissed her lips and then stood up. Wala na siyang magawa, nasanay na siya
sa bigla-biglaang panghahalik nito sa kanya. It seems like Phantom likes kissing.
Wala naman iyon sa kanya e, they did something more than that before, a kiss is
just a small thing.
Akmang tatayo siya nang biglang lumingon si Phantom sa kanya.
"Ah, you need to go to your house later, someone will be picking you up." He said
while slapping his other hand using the rolled magazine. Nangunot naman ang kanyang
noo.
"Pick up some of your clothes, nauubusan ka na."
Wait, what? Hindi naman ah.
"Ang dami kong damit—"
"Nope. Wash up babe, someone will be picking you up in a while." he said before
turning around and proceeding to his room.
Wala na siyang magawa. Paano niya i-e-explain sa parents niya kung pano siya
nakalabas ng kumbento?!

Just like what Phantom said earlier, someone really did picked her up from
Phantom's house... and with a limousine.
Naunang umalis si Phantom kanina sa bahay, he just said that he'll be visiting his
branch.
Finally! Freedom!
Nakaka-labas naman siya ng bahay ni Phantom, kasama nga lang niya ito lagi—more
like, sumasama ito lagi sa kanya.
After a few minutes, they arrived in front of her house. Parang ayaw niya nang
lumabas dahil pinagtitinginan ng mga taga village ang limousine! Ba't kasi ganito
pa ang ginamit sa pag-sundo sa kanya? Sobrang agaw-pansin. Some people are even
taking pictures of the limo!
Napatingin siya sa kanyang gilid nang biglang bumukas ang pintuan.
"Ma'am."
"Kuya... sabi ko sa labas mo nalang ako i-drop e..." she said—almost whispering.
"Mr. Nightray's orders were clear ma'am, I should drop you exactly in front of your
house."
Natampal niya ang kanyang noo.
She sighed. The driver isn't moving and he won't move until she gets out of the
limousine. Buong tapang siyang lumabas mula roon. She immediately looked down and
covered her face with her hands. Mabilis siyang tumakbo at tsaka nag-doorbell.
She's pressing the doorbell for uncountable times. Wala siyang susi ng bahay
because she didn't expect that this would happen, ang plano niya kasi ay sa
kumbento mags-stay for three years!
"Open... the door please..." she whispered at tsaka kumatok na. A few more knocks
after, the door finally opened! Kaagad naman siyang pumasok.
"Ate Coraline, you're here!"

Napalingon siya sa kanyang likod.
"Estrelia!" She called out her cousin's name.
"Hi ate! Ba't hingal na hingal ka?"
She sighed.
"J-Just tired. Where's mama and papa?"
"They're in the dining room, may bisita sila ate. Ang pogi!"
Nangunot ang kanyang noo. That's weird, her parents rarely accepts visitors inside
the house. Sino kaya ang bisita?
Kaagad siyang pumunta sa dining room and saw her parents. "Oh, Coraline anak!
You're here!" Her mom greeted her with a huge smile plastered on her face.
Her eyebrows furrowed when she saw a man's back.
Wait... this man's back looks familiar.
She was about to ask who that person was when he turned around and smiled.
"Phantom..."

room.

When they reached the garden, she let go of his arms and cross her arms and glared
at him. Phantom just smirked at her.

"Alright let me think first..... how about a no?" He said and then smiled. She
smacked his arm at ang bruho parang mas natutuwa pang makitang galit siya! She was
about to smack his arm again when he grabbed her wrist.
"What the—"
"Would've preferred it if you were scratching my arm instead of smacking it. That
way, it would remind me of our first night together—" She immediately covered
Phantom's mouth using her hands to stop him from talking. Sinadya talaga ng bruho
na lakasan ang boses nito para marinig ng ibang tao!
Why is he acting like this?!
Her eyes widened at natanggal niya ang kanyang kamay mula sa bibig ni Phantom nang
bigla nalang nitong dilaan ang kanyang palad.
"Phantom Nightray!" She shouted at him.
"What?" Phantom asked with an innocent smile plastered on his face.
As if he's really innocent, this man is one hell of a beast.
"I just want to introduce myself to your parents." Dagdag nito. She bit her lower
lip.
"Why are acting like this Phantom?"
"Like what?"
"Like a brat! What are you doing here? Hindi mo sinusunod ang kontrata! We're
supposed to just get married to please your parents and then get divorced after.
Introducing yourself to my parents wouldn't do good to the both of us." She said
to Phantom. Slowly, his playful expression changed. The smile on his face
disappeared and his eyes darkened. Napa-atras si Coraline nang bigla nalang lumapit
si Phantom sa kanya.
"Fuck the contract Coraline, you owe me so I decide what will happen."
Her eyes widened and suddenly, she's out of words to say. He's radiating
intimidating aura. Is this the real him?
"ate Coraline, kuya Phantom, tita and tito are asking for the both of you to come
in. Ano ba raw ang ginagawa niyo jan?" Napatingin siya sa kanyang gilid, nakatayo
sa pintuan ay ang kanyang pinsan na si Estrelia. Kitang-kita sa mukha ng kanyang
pinsan. She could also feel Phantom's eyes locked on her, parang wala itong
pakialam na nasa tabi lang nila ang kanyang pinsan.
"P-Papasok na—"
"Go in first Estrelia, susunod lang kami." Putol ni Phantom sa kanyang dapat na
sasabihin. Napatingin naman siya rito and heck, she's dang right about him just
locking his eyes on her. Napalunok siya nang bigla itong ngumiti. It's a different
kind of smile—it's kind of scary. Nakangiti kasi ito ngunit ang mga mata nito'y
nananatiling nandidilim lamang.
She gulped again.
"Okay po." Estrellia said and entered the house.
Nahigit niya ang kanyang hininga nang bigla nalang hawakan ni Phantom ang kanyang
batok at inilapit ang mukha nito sa kanyang mukha.
Their lips are just millimeters away from touching each other.
"My contract... my rules babe." He whispered in a sexy, husky voice.
Her eyes widened when he suddenly licked her lips and grinned. He let go of her
nape and left her in the garden alone thinking what the freak just happened.

The moment she entered the dining room, her parents are already laughing together
with Phantom.
"Coraline anak, come here. Let's eat. Phantom cooked these."
Napanganga siya nang marinig ang sinabi ng kanyang ina. She looked at Phantom and
mouthed "Really?!" before sighing.
Nang maupo siya sa upuan katabi si Phantom ay kaagad siyang hinainan ng pagkain ng
kanyang ama. She looked at her father who's smiling from ear to ear.
Oh shoot... that's not a good sign.
Looking at how things are right now, Phantom has already captured her parents'
hearts and it's not good!
"Coraline, tell me." Napatingin siya kaagad sa kanyang ina.
"Y-Yeah?"
Her mom smiled at her.
"Kailan mo pa naging kaibigan si Phantom Nightray? Hindi mo sinabi sa aming

kaibigan mo ang isa sa mga pinakamagaling na chefs in the whole world. You're
keeping secrets from your parents ha!"
She let out a nervous laugh.
Akala niya kung ano na ang tatanungin ng kanyang mama!
"Ha-hahaha... h-haha... m-medyo classified kasi... h-hahaha..."
She and her parents continued on laughing when she felt Phantom's hand on her
thighs. Napatingin siya rito. Phantom is laughing and not looking at her. Pilit
niyang tinanggal ang kamay nito mula sa kanyang hita but Phantom's hand wouldn't
budge.
"Phantom isa." She whispered in a warning tone while still fake laughing ngunit
hindi pa rin nito tinatanggal ang kamay nito. She scoffed and punched his hand.
Napaigik ito sa kanyang ginawa making her parents stop from laughing.
She's a small woman who has small arms but they're very powerful. Naalala niya
tuloy 'yong one time na na-knock out niya yung bully niya nung elementary na doble
ang laki sa kanya.
"Are you okay hijo? What happened?" Tanong ng kanyang papa rito. Phantom smiled at
her parents.
"I'm alright... it's nothing, don't worry." He assured them. She snorted and bit
her lower lip to suppress her laughter.
They continued eating their lunch when Phantom leaned closer to her.
"Mamaya ka sa'kin." He whispered to her ears. Binelatan niya naman ito.
Mamaya? As if naman natatakot siya rito. He couldn't do anything to her inside her
own house.

That's where she's wrong. She thought she's safe from Phantom when she's inside her
own house but she's wrong.
Extremely wrong.
"My hand's still in pain after that punch... that was painful blow by the way." He
said while trapping her in between of his arms.
Coraline gulped.
How did they come in this situation? Apparently, her parents went out together with
her cousin to attend some things, her mom went out to buy some groceries together
with her cousin and her dad went out to follow up her twin sister's whereabouts
leaving her and Phantom alone in the house.
Darn it.
The moment they left the house, Phantom locked the door and carried her like a sack
of rice on his shoulder and brought her to her room upstairs. When she asked him
kung paano nito nalaman kung saan ang kanyang kwarto, he said that he asked her mom
about it earlier.
Darn it times two!
Now she's trapped in between of Phantom's arms inside her room with the door
locked!
She bit her lower lip. Instant regret na ginawa niya iyon kay Phantom kanina, hindi
niya naman alam na ganito ang mangyayari e!
At tsaka, bakit parang palagi nalang in favor kay Phantom ang situations?

She sighed.
"S-Sorry..." she whispered. Phantom's eyebrow raised.
"Pardon? I wasn't able to hear what you just said... is it because my hand is
painful?"
Sinamaan niya ito ng tingin. Ano'ng connect ng kamay at tenga nito?!
She clicked her tongue. Knowing Phantom, hindi talaga siya mananalo pag makikipag-
argue pa siya rito. She inhaled before talking.
"I'm s-sorry, hindi ko sinadyang sapakin yang kamay mo." Sinadya ko talaga kasi
manyakis ka. "Hindi ko na uulitin..." Uulitin ko kapag inulit mong manyakis ka.
"You're one hell of a bad liar Coraline."
"S-Sorry na nga kasi!"
Phantom pouted his lips at tumingin pa ito sa ceiling na para bang nag-iisip ito.
"P-Please?"
Phantom looked at her and removed his hands on the wall. Napangiti naman siya.
Finally! I'm free!
"Thank you!" She said while smiling. Tumalikod siya at akmang ia-unlock ang pintuan
nang bigla nalang siyang hilain ni Phantom sa kama. He immediately climb on top of
her and grinned.
"P-Phantom!"
"Who said I already forgave you? You're not yet forgiven." He said to her.
"P-Please, hindi ko naman na uulitin. Sorry na please?"
Phantom sighed.
"Alright..."
"Yey—"
"Nah, just kidding." He said before stripping his shirt on top of her.
Her eyes widened.
"Punishment time."

at her. Kaagad niyang pinulot ang unan na nasa kanyang gilid at tsaka iyon hinagis
kay Phantom. Napaiwas naman ito.
"Hey! Why did you do that?!"
"E nakakabwisit yung pagmumukha mo e."
"What the fuck?!" Phantom laughed in disbelief and tilted his head. Parang hindi
ito makapaniwala sa kanyang sinabi.
Kahit siya rin naman mismo ay hindi makapaniwala sa kanyang sinabi. Why is she
suddenly being grumpy? It's really weird. Parang every movements ni Phantom e
naiinis o nab-bwisit siya bigla. Kulang nalang pati paghinga nito e kainisan niya
rin.
"Alright, serious now. What do you want to eat?" Phantom asked her with his back
leaned on the corner of the door. She bit her lower lip and scratched her nape
while thinking. Napangiti naman siya nang maisip ang pagkain na kanyang gustong
kainin.
Napatingin siya kay Phantom while smiling from ear to ear. Nangunot naman ang noo
nito habang nakatingin sa kanya.
"What is it?"
"Sardinas and mint ice cream!" She said in an excited manner. Mas lalong nangunot
ang noo nito.
"What?"
"Bungol? Sardinas kako tapos mint ice cream!" Ulit niya rito. Nakita niya namang
ngumiwi si Phantom.
"I can cook you know?"
"I don't care Phantom... boohoo. I want Sardines and mint ice cream. End of the
story." Sabi niya rito. Phantom gave her a confused look.
"Seriously? Sardinas and mint ice cream? You're acting like a pregnant woman—"
Naputol ang pagsasalita nito at napatingin naman siya rito.
Wait... what?
Nanlaki ang kanyang mga mata nang bigla siyang may ma-realize. The weird cravings,
the mood swings and the morning sickness...

"Holy... fuck. Holy shit!" Phantom shouted and jumped again and again. Nangunot ang

Coraline kept on avoiding him since yesterday. Hindi niya alam kung ano'ng

found out that she's pregnant with his child.

Everytime he tries to approach her, she avoids him. Muli rin nitong nilagyan ng

Maybe it's just her hormones, iba kasi talaga ang babae kapag nabuntis at kapag
ikaw ang napaglihian kaso, may kakaiba talaga kay Coraline. Halatang sinasadya
talaga nitong iwasan siya.
He ran his fingers through his hair out of frustration and let out a deep breath.
They shouldn't be like this lalo na't bukas na ang kasal nilang dalawa.
His eyes shifted to Coraline who's just reading the Bible in her hand again.
Coraline's been reading the Bible since yesterday, hindi niya tuloy mapigilang
maisip na siguro'y galit ito sa kanya because he stopped her from being a nun.
He's not much of a religious person but he respects the believers but seeing
Coraline holding that Bible pisses him off. Baka bigla nalang kasing mag-iba ang
isip nito after reading the Bible. Ang babaw ngunit natatakot siya na baka ituloy
talaga nito ang pagmamadre nito kahit na ano'ng mangyari.
He sighed. He can't help but feel frustrated and scared by what's happening between
them two right now. Kahapon lamang ay ang saya-saya niya tapos ngayon, biglaan
nalang nagkaganito.
He sighed again and walked towards Coraline's position. Coraline didn't look at him
kahit na halatang-halata na nasa harapan na siya nito.
"Coraline." He called her but she ignored him. She flipped the page of the Bible
and continued on reading. Coraline's ignoring her as if he's a ghost.
"Coraline, let's talk—" his words were cut off when Coraline suddenly stood up and
walked pass him but before she could even walk away from him, he already got a hold
of her arm.
"Coraline, what's happening to you? Why are you ignoring me? Did I do something to
make you angry?" Sunod-sunod niyang tanong dito. Coraline didn't answer at hindi
rin talaga siya nito nilingon.
He bit his lip and clenched his jaw out of frustration. He's never felt this level
of frustration ever in his entire life. Matatanggap niya pa kung sinisigawan siya
nito, awayin siya nito because he ruined her dream to become a nun kaso hindi,
Coraline's acting really cold and he hates it!
"Coraline—"
"Let me go."
"No. I won't let you go until you tell me what's happening to you." He said with
finality in his voice. He thought that he was on the upper hand but he was wrong.
Biglang napaatras ang kanyang dila nang lumingon si Coraline at tinignan siya
diretso sa kanyang mga mata. She's looking at him—no, glaring at him with her eyes
full of anger. Dahan-dahan siyang napabitaw sa braso nito.
"Why are you so mad at me Coraline? Is it because I hindered your dream to become a
nun?" he asked her in a soft voice. Coraline looked away from him and entered their
room. He even heard the door slamming.
He sighed again and clenched his jaw. Why is this happening now?

and a tear escaped from her eyes.
She was never this emotional before, she rarely cries over things. Maybe it's
because of her hormones kaya masyado siyang emosyonal ngayon.
She bit her lower lip when she saw the Bible on her hand. She's been reading it
since yesterday to distract herself. Ayaw niya kasing pansinin si Phantom.
It's not like she's angry that Phantom got her pregnant. Pareho naman nilang
ginusto 'yon. She spread her legs willingly, Phantom didn't force her. Hindi rin
siya nagagalit dito dahil hindi na niya maaabot ang kanyang pangarap na maging
isang madre, she has already accepted the fact that she'll never become one the
moment Phantom introduced himself to her family.
What upsets her is that Phantom thanked her instead of saying something else.

already inside the church waiting for his bride together with his parents, her
parents and the people he invited.

alone to surprise her because today he'll ask her to marry him for real.

They've been together for a very short time but he's sure that he's really in love
with her. What he feels for her isn't just an infatuation, he really loves

bumukas ang pintuan ng kotse. An unknown man opened the door. Nang makalabas siya
mula sa kotse ay bigla nalang siyang napatingin sa lalakeng nagbukas ng pintuan
para sa kanya. The man's wearing a formal suit and tie attire.
She was about to ask the man about what's happening when the church's main door
suddenly opened. Nanlaki ang kanyang mga mata nang makita ang loob ng simbahan na
punong-puno ng mga tao sa loob. The church is also full of white flowers
everywhere.
Naguguluhan na siya sa mga nangyayari when her eyes landed on a man who's waiting
on the aisle.
"Phantom..." she whispered under her breath.
Wait... is this what she think it is?

Her eyes clouded with tears.
God, please let this be real.
She slowly made her way to the isle, matching her every steps with the sound of the
wedding music. Napangiti siya nang makita ang kanyang mga magulang sa loob, they
immediately approached her. They're smiling from ear to ear.
"This day finally came..." her mom said and kissed her. Her parent escorted her to
the aisle and a tear fell when she's finally in front of Phantom. She let out a
soft sob when she saw his eyes also clouded with tears.
She was about to receive his hand when a voice caught her attention.
"Stop this wedding at once!"
Lahat sila'y napalingon sa main door. Her eyes widened when she identified the
person standing on the church's main door. It was her twin who's grinning from ear
to ear.

"What the fuck is that woman doing here?" Napatingin siya kay Phantom.

Her hands curled into a fist and her jaw clenched as an outburst of anger hit her.
She doesn't care about the humiliation that her twin caused, ang galit niya ngayon

"What are you doing here?!" Phantom shouted at her twin. Caroline grinned and
looked at her. Her twin is obviously intentionally trying to piss her off—and it
worked because even before Caroline opened her mouth to say something to piss her

She wasn't able to suppress her anger anymore. Caroline crossed the line that she's
been extending for years and years. She's never felt this kind of anger ever before
in her life. Lahat ng tao may hangganan talaga ang pasensya. Just like a gun, it's
not dangerous until someone pulls the trigger.
The gasps filled the room. Napahawak ang kanyang kakambal sa pisngi nito at tsaka

"Walang kasalan na mangyayari!" Her eyes widened when her sister suddenly screamed
on the top of her lungs. Akmang lalapitan niya ito nang bigla nalang itong naglabas
ng patalim.
Gasps filled the room.
"Caroline—"
"Shut up Coraline! Stop acting like you care about me! Stop acting like you're the
good one because you're not!" Sigaw nito sa kanya.
"C-Caroline anak..." tawag ng kanyang ina rito. Pagak na tumawa si Caroline.
"Oh... you suddenly care about me mama." Caroline said in a sarcastic tone. Napa-
iyak naman ang kanyang ina.
"Why are you doing this Caroline?!" Sigaw ng kanyang ama rito. Caroline grinned and
laughed.
"Stop acting like you care about me mama. You too papa... ang nasa mata niyo lang
ay si Coraline. Si Coraline ang mabait, si Coraline ang may alam, si Coraline na
lahat! You weren't there when I needed you the most, you don't care about me at
all! You let me suffer alone and now you're asking me why I'm doing this shit?!"
"We care about you—"
"Then where were you when I got raped?! You were somewhere with Coraline! You left
me in the hospital to celebrate her graduation! You hid me from everyone because
you're afraid of what the people will think and say!" Caroline shouted while
crying.
Napatigil silang lahat sa rebelasyon ni Caroline.

Dahan-dahan naman nitong ibinaba ang kutsilyo at tsaka napayuko. She slowly
approached her twin when Caroline suddenly spoke again.
"Wait... it's not me who should die..." Caroline whispered and glared at their
parents.
Nanlaki ang kanyang mga mata nang bigla nalang nitong itinutok ang kutsilyo sa
kanyang ina.
"Caroline no!" She shouted and ran towards her twin. Before her twin could even
stab her mom, kaagad na siyang humarang.
"Coraline!!! Oh my God!" Narinig niyang sigaw ng kanyang ina.

"Someone call 911!"
She slowly looked at her twin. Nanlalaki ang mga mata nito sa gulat habang
nakatingin sa kanya.

A tear fell from Coraline's eye and with her bloodied hand, she cupped her twin's
face and smiled.

She cringed as she felt the stabbing pain on her chest. Kaagad nanghina ang kanyang
binti. Mabuti nalang at nasalo kaagad siya ni Phantom nang siya'y matumba.

Ah... I'm going to die before I could even get married to this man...
Phantom cried and his tears fell on her face. She cupped Phantom's face and smiled
at him.
"I'm... happy... t-that I m-met you..."

"It's been a month since the last time they visited their daughter here."

"No one knows when, she remained comatose for about a month and a half now. The

she open her eyes?
'Someone help me.' She tried to shout but she couldn't, it's as if her lips has

"C-Call the Doctor!"

Doctor. How do you feel?" a man kept on asking questions to her but she couldn't
understand a thing. Nalilito siya at hindi niya alam kung saan siya. What happened
to her? Bakit siya nagkakaganito ngayon?
"What's the last thing that you can remember?" he asked her again. She closed her
eyes and took a breath before talking again.
"P-Party... G-Graduation party of... of... a friend... then..." She said to him,
almost whispering. Her throat feels so dry. Parang ilang araw siyang hindi naka-
inom ng tubig.

A tear fell from her eye and she sobbed as fear consumed her. She doesn't know

"Awake?" She immediately cut off her Mother's words.

They left her rotting in that hospital. They're celebrating while she was fighting

She sobbed while clapping. She made sure that her claps were loud enough for the
neighbors to hear—and it worked. Dahan-dahang nagsilabasan ang kanilang mga
chismosang kapitbahay at tsaka sila tinignan.
Her mom pulled her arm but she immediately pulled her arm away from her mother's
grasp and clapped even louder.

"Want me to celebrate? Then let's celebrate!" She said and passed through them. She

"Doc Darius?" she whispered. Napalingon ito sa kanya. Nangunot ang noo nito.
"Doc, how is she?" Phantom asked him. Dahan-dahan itong napatingin kay Phantom.
Punong-puno ng pag-aalala ang mukha nito.
This man obviously loves her sister. She didn't expect this to happen, ang balak
niya lang noon ay i-frame si Coraline, hindi ganito.
She bit her lower lip when she realized all the bad things that she has done to her
own sister.
"The patient is now stable and will be transferred to the ICU. She's lucky to be
alive. If she was exhaling when she got stabbed, the knife would've hit her lungs
and would cause it to collapse." The Doctor said and then looked at her.
"H-How about the baby?"
Nangunot ang kanyang noo sa tanong ni Phantom.
"B-Baby?" she said.
Nangunot din ang noo ng Doktor sa tanong nito.

"Baby?"
"Yes, the baby in her tummy."
The Doctor paused and tilted his head trying to understand the situation.
"There's no baby."
"W-What? But she's pregnant."

false positive. She's taking Alprazolam as her anxiety medication." Doctor Darius
said to him while they're inside the hospital room. Coraline is already in a stable
situation and they're just waiting for her to wake up.
"W-What about the moodswings?" he asked the Doctor.
"Could be a phantom pregnancy. Maybe she believed that she's really pregnant
because of the result of the false positive pregnancy test kit."
Phantom let out a deep breath and interlaced his hand with Coraline's hand. He then
kissed her hand and bit his lower lip.
Their wedding wasn't a successful one because of Coraline's twin sister's
interruption. The visitors have been controlled so that the news about this failed
wedding day won't get out. Wala na siyang problema sa iba aside from his parents
and Coraline's family. His parents got disappointed from what happened and
Coraline's family is currently being questioned in a police station.
He ran his fingers through his hair out of frustration and sighed heavily.
Pregnant or not pregnant, he doesn't care anymore. The moment Coraline opens her
eyes, he'll ask her to marry him for real this time. So what if she isn't pregnant?
So what if that was just a false positive result? Kung matutuloy ang kung ano'ng

"When is she going to wake up?" Tanong ni Phantom kay Doctor Darius na kasalukuyang
nag-c-check ng vitals ni Coraline. Doctor Darius looked at him then he removed his
glasses and his stethoscope.
"There's no telling when the patient is going to wake up. After all, she suffered a
trauma from the ordeal. Don't worry, Mr. Nightray, she'll wake up soon, just be
patient." Doctor Darius said to him and tapped his shoulder.
"Are you sure there's nothing wrong with Coraline?" He asked the Doctor again and
Doctor Darius shook his head while smiling at him.
"There's definitely nothing wrong with her, she'll wake up." He said to him and
then left the room with the nurses.
He sighed and looked at Coraline who's laying on the hospital bed with her eyes
closed. It's already been a week since her surgery and she hasn't even made a
single move. She's getting thinner and thinner as days went by.
Hindi niya alam na may tine-take pala itong anxiety medications. Turns out,
Coraline's been diagnosed with anxiety disorder when she was still a high school
student. Dahil sa kagustuhan nitong i-please at sundin ang mga magulang nito, she
studied very hard and became a top student. Many people loved her for her
intelligence and charm but many hated her for that and ended up bullying her. That
bullying lead to her developing an anxiety disorder.
He didn't know about it until Coraline's parents told him about it. Hindi rin
halata sa babae na may pinagdadaanan pala itong ganon because she doesn't look like
the type to have an anxiety disorder. She's cheerful and doesn't break down easily.
Nagkamali siya ron.
He bit his lower lip and approached Coraline who's still sleeping. Both of her skin
and lips are pale but she still looks beautiful.
He smiled sadly while looking at her sleeping face. He never imagined in his life
that he would fall in love sincerely to someone. He never wanted to get married
because that topic bores him. He was comfortable being alone kasi alam niya sa
sarili niyang he can manage all by himself. That was his mindset until he met
Coraline.
They met due to an unfortunate event caused by her twin sister Caroline and he
ended up taking Coraline instead of her twin but maybe, that's what fate did to
them. Hindi man maganda ang pagkakakilala nila sa isa't isa, everything worked out
just fine. He never thought that he'd fall in love with this woman ever, he just
wanted to marry her back then because of his parents' demands and nothing else.
But everything changed. He ended up falling in love with Coraline. He wants to keep
her beside him forever.
For the first time ever, he wants someone in his life, marry her, create a big
family with her and stay with her until their hair are white and they're too weak
to even walk. That someone is Coraline.
A tear fell from his eye and he bit his lower lip to stop himself from sobbing. He
inhaled deeply and was about to let go of Coraline's hand to calm himself outside
when he felt her hand moving. His eyes widened and he looked at her hand.
"C-Coraline... please do that again love. Please move your hand." He whispered to
her with his voice shaking. He looked at her face and back to her hand again. He
waited.
Ten seconds... twenty seconds...
Until she moved her hand again. She was grabbing his hand and the machines just
started beeping. His eyes widened when he saw her eyes slowly opening. Without
having any second thoughts, he immediately pressed the button to call for the
nurses.
It wasn't long when the nurses and Doctor Darius entered Coraline's hospital room.
They immediately checked her and asked her different questions but Coraline
wouldn't answer. Parang wala pa ito sa sarili nito. She just kept on looking on the
ceiling.
Phantom's eyes widened when he saw a tear falling from her eyes.
"Ma'am Lazaro, what are you feeling right now?" Doctor Darius asked Coraline but
then again, she didn't respond. She just kept on crying.
"M-My baby..."
Lahat sila'y napatigil nang sinabi iyon ni Coraline. Her shaking hands slowly went
to touch her belly.
Napatingin sa kanya ang Doktor. He bit his lower lip and slowly nodded his head.
Doctor Darius sighed. Napatingin siya sa kanyang gilid nang tumabi sa kanya ang
isang nurse.
"Sir..."
Phantom nodded his head. He knows that he needs to leave for now. He sighed and
left the room while looking at Coraline. Before the door could even close, he saw
Doctor Darius saying something to Coraline that made her cry even more.

3 days later...
It's been three days since he last entered Coraline's hospital room. Doctor Darius
has told him to let her be alone for the mean time to recuperate from the situation
and he followed what he said. Hindi niya totally iniwan si Coraline, he still
visited her for the past three days and entered the room whenever she was sleeping.
Akala niya ay hindi na ulit siya makakapasok sa kwartong ito ni Coraline habang
gising ito ngunit ito na mismo ang nagsabi sa nurses na papasukin siya and he did.
With his shaking hands, dahan-dahan niyang ipinihit ang doorknob sa kwarto ni
Coraline at tsaka pumasok doon. There on the bed, he saw Coraline who's just
looking outside the window, observing the birds that was flying in the sky.
He let out a deep breath and cleared his throat. Napalingon naman ito sa kanya at
tsaka ito ngumiti.
He smiled back at her and approached her. Naupo siya sa upuan katabi ng kama nito
at tsaka ito tinignan.
Coraline's skin and lips are no longer pale. She still looks weak but at least,
she's awake now.
"Coraline I'm—"
"Let's end our contract here, Phantom..."

His eyes widened. He was hoping that Coraline was just joking when she said that
ngunit hindi nag-iba ang expression nito. She's smiling at him sadly.
"W-Why... is it because of the false positive result? W-We could just try to make
one—"
Coraline shook her head and held his hand.
"Maybe all these unfortunate events were signs from God himself. Maybe... we're not
really fated to each other."
Nangunot ang kanyang noo nang binigyan siya nito ng isang papel.
It was a bank cheque at nakasulat doon ang amount ng kanyang kotse na sinadyang
nakawin ng kakambal nito sa kanya. Coraline gulped and with her shaking hand, she
touched his face and smiled.
"Let's part ways."

"What? It's been two months and he's still visiting that place. Can't he go in or

Phantom sighed as he failed to see Coraline this day. He waited for an hour for her
to come out of the convent but she didn't.
He looked down and smiled sadly. "Not today huh?" he said and sighed again.
It's been two months since Coraline decided to end things between them. He didn't
want to let go of her but he can't also force her to stay in his life. Hindi siya
masamang tao para pagbawalan si Coraline sa pangarap nitong maging madre.
It's stupid and he knows that but he respects her. He loves and respects Coraline
at kahit na masakit, he decided to let her go—but not entirely. Before starting his
schedule for the day, he'd visit the convent everyday for an hour just to see her
ngunit hindi siya nagpapakita sa babae. Just seeing Coraline from a safe distance
where she would not see him is enough.
Like his usual daily routine, he visited the convent ngunit these past few weeks ay
hindi niya nakikita ang babae. Maybe they're not allowed to go out or anything.
He misses her so much. Kung gugustuhin niya lang, papasukin niya ang kumbento and
take her away again like how he did before—but he won't do that.

of the convent before driving away.

His parents tried to set him up with different women but he rejected them

non. He kept himself busy to distract himself from the pain of longing for the
woman that he loves. He's been working twice as hard than before. Accepting deals,

He coughed when the door to his office suddenly opened. It was his secretary. Marko
Rodrigues.
"Sir, I can do those things for you. You really need to rest." Marko said to him.
He immediately shook his head.
"I can do this."
"But sir—"
"I said, I can do this. Now go. I'll take a rest after I finish these paperworks.
Kakaunti nalang 'to." He said and smiled at his secretary. Halata namang nag-aalala
ito sa kanya but his secretary just smiled and slowly nodded his head.
Tumalikod ang kanyang sekretarya mula sa kanya when he suddenly felt dizzy. He
moaned in pain.
"Sir?"
Before he could even say a word, he passed out.

"Where am I?" he asked as soon as he opened his eyes. He looked around and saw a
nurse beside him.
"You're in Samaniego Hospital. You passed out." The nurse said to him. Dahan-dahan

"How long was I out?"

"A... wait what?!" Nanlaki ang kanyang mga mata. He's been out for a week?!
"You had a burning fever and was over fatigued. You were sick Mr. Nightray."

"I need to go. I'm feeling okay already." He said while removing the IV injection
from his hand. Nanlaki ang mga mata ng Nurse at tsaka nito pinindot ang isang
button malapit sa kanyang kama. His eyes widened when suddenly a Doctor and a group
of nurses entered his hospital room.
"What are you doing?" He asked them.
"You're still not completely okay Mr. Nightray. You can't leave." The Doctor said
to him.
"Of course I can, sino'ng nagsabing hindi ako pwedeng umalis?!"
"Your parents, they told us to put you under strict supervision and only let you go
when you're completely okay. Mr. Nightray, please, you need to take a rest." The
Doctor said to me.
I sighed and massaged the temples of my forehead. I slowly nodded my head and
returned to the bed.
Guess he wouldn't see her today...

"Ano'ng tinitingin mo jan sa bintana Coraline?"
She gasped when a person suddenly spoke behind her. It was Mother Marisa. Napahawak
siya sa kanyang batok at tsaka ito nginitian.

She gulped and immediately looked away. Narinig niya naman ang mahinang pagtawa ni

Nakagat niya ang kanyang ibabang labi at dahan-dahang tumango.
It's been two months since she and Phantom separated their ways. It was a very hard
decision but she made it anyway. She loves Phantom but after the ordeals that
happened to them during the time when they were together, maybe they're really not
destined for each other.
After their separation, she decided to chase her old dream again. She's in the
convent, on the process to become a nun. Dapat masaya siya because finally, maaabot
niya na rin yung pangarap niyang matagal niya nang gustong maabot but somehow... it
doesn't feel the same anymore.
She sighed. She's aware that Phantom visits the convent kahit na nagtatago ito ay
nakikita niya pa rin ito.
"Mother..." Mother Marisa cupped her face and smiled at her.
"God will understand, my child. Go to him before it's too late."

took him almost a month of rest before being discharged from the hospital.
He sighed and got out of his car.
After three weeks of not being able to visit the convent, andito na siya ulit but

"Wrong person dude. Not my twin." She said and yawned afterwards.
"Caroline?"
"The one and only. Nice to meet you again Phantom." She said and smiled at him.
"But how did you—"
"Ep ep, sabihin na nating magic yung paglabas ko sa kulungan but boy, hindi yan ang
focus mo. My sister isn't there anymore."
"What? Where is she then?"
Caroline pouted her lips and grinned.
"Prolly on her way to the airport. Flight's schedule to London is twelve—"
"Wait what?! But—"
"It's already eleven a.m Mr. Nightray, the clock is ticking. Are you just gonna let
her go like that?" Caroline said and pointed at her wrist watch while grinning.
Phantom smiled and a tear fell from his eye.
"Of course not."
"Then go."
He smiled at Caroline and patted her hair. Saglit itong napatigil bago ito muling
ngumiti.
"Go now."
He chuckled and turned around. He was about to enter his car when a thought
suddenly entered his mind.
"Hey Caroline!"
"What Nightray?"
"How'd you know I'm here?"
"Magic probably?" Caroline said and chuckled before walking away.

Nagmamadaling nag-empake si Coraline ng kanyang mga gamit na dadalhin sa airport.

Nagdadali-dali na siya dahil nahuli siya ng gising. Panay kasi siya sa pag-nood ng
Kdrama kagabi, hindi niya tuloy namalayang inabot na siya ng umaga kakapanood.
Hindi niya naman alam na sobrang ganda pala nung While You Were Sleeping na Kdrama

This is her first time to go somewhere far. Actually, wala naman talaga sa plano
niya ang mag-travel, it was her parents' idea to book her a flight after seeing her
stuck in her room doing absolutely nothing.
Yes, she ended up leaving the convent and giving up her dream to become a nun after
that conversation with Mother Marisa.
Noong nag-decide siya na muling bumalik sa kumbento, alam niyang may kulang na.
After spending a day inside the convent, nagising nalang din siya na hindi na buo
ang kanyang interes sa pagiging Madre. Itutuloy niya pa sana until she found out
that Phantom was secretly visiting her outside the convent everyday. Since she
found out about it, she was always distracted and would look out of the window
waiting for him to come.

When she left the convent, she was actually planning to go straight to him ngunit

somewhere ngunit ayaw niya ring ma-stuck sa traffic if ever, baka magkatotoo bigla
na ma-late siya sa kanyang flight. She has no choice, she has to wait here inside
of the airport until her plane number will be called out.

She let out a deep breath and checked her wrist watch. Three hours already passed,

Well, she needs to prepare now, fifteen minutes left at tatawagin na sila to board.
She stood up at tsaka sinuot ang kanyang backpack at hinila ang kanyang maleta.

She was about to leave the bench when she heard a familiar voice calling for her.

couldn't see anyone.

She smiled at naglakad papasok na dapat sa waiting area nang bigla nalang yumakap
sa kanya mula sa kanyang likod. Kaagad niyang tinanggal ang kanyang earphones at
napatingin. Nanlaki ang kanyang mga mata nang makita ang isang umiiyak na Phantom.
"P-Phantom... why are you here—" She tried to pull away from him ngunit mas lalo
nitong hinigpitan ang pagyakap nito sa kanya.
What's going on?!
Why is Phantom here?! And why is he crying?!
"Phantom—"
"Please don't leave me, I'll do everything, I'll give you everything, I'll be the
best man for you, please! Give me a chance! Don't leave me!"
Nanlaki ang kanyang mga mata sa sinabi nito. Napa-tingin siya sa kanyang paligid at
kaagad siyang namula nang mapansing pinagtitinginan na sila ng mga tao sa loob ng
airport. She tried once again to pull away from his backhug ngunit mas lalo lang
nitong hinigpitan ang pagyakap nito sa kanya. Nakagat niya ang kanyang ibabang labi
nang isiniksik nito ang mukha nito sa kanyang leeg at mabilis na umiling.
Phantom is acting like a spoiled child!
"Phantom! Let go!"
"I won't! You'll leave me! Pupunta ka sa London!" he shouted. Kaagad na nangunot
ang kanyang noo.
Wait, what? London?
"London?" tanong niya rito. Tumango ito. She sighed.
"I'm not going to London, who told you that?" Sabi niya rito. She sighed at dahan-
dahang tinanggal ang pagkakayakap nito sa kanya. Mabuti nalang at bumitiw ito. She
looked at him and sighed when she saw his face.
His eyes are red and full of tears. Para itong batang inagawan ng candy!
She smiled at tsaka ito hinila papalayo sa lugar na iyon.

"You're not going to London?" Agad na tanong ni Phantom sa kanya nang makalabas
sila sa airport. She immediately shook her head.
"B-But..."
"I'm going to Palawan, sila mama and papa ang nag-book sa'kin ng flight, I'll be
back within a week." She said and then sighed.
"Sa'n mo ba nakuha ang idea na pupunta ako sa London?"
"From your sister, Caroline."
"You met Caroline? Where?"
"The Con—I mean, somewhere." He said and cleared his throat. Nangunot ang kanyang
noo nang mapansin ang pag-iwas nito ng tingin.
"Alright, hindi mo sasabihin? Aalis ako—"
"Alright! Alright! Sa kumbento! I-I was looking for you and then I met Caroline
there, she was the one who said that you're going to London—which was obviously
just a lie to make me rush here and cry—" he said and cleared his throat again.
Napangiti siya habang tinitignan ito.
