Students echo it back to the teacher repeatedly.

The teacher introduces the known canon “ROUND


AND ROUND”. He then divides the class into three
parts.

Students sing in three parts canons to the known


canon.
F 3mins 2. Bought me a dog Teacher: Sing the song BOUGHT ME A DOG. Tap two beats on
your chest, and two beats on your finger.

Students Tap two beats on the chest and two on the finger
while singing the Known song.

Teacher: let’s sing the last portion of the song (HI HO MY


DARLING) keep the two-beat on the chest and on finger.
Students sing along the last portion.

Teacher: Boys and girls, the Last two beat has the
word “Dar-ling”. The rhythm name is Ta Ta.
Is there a New rhythm in that last portion we just sang ( Hi ho
my darling )

Students sing again TAPPING the chest against two beats and
snapping their fingers against two beats. They say YES
THERE IS A NEW RHYTHM.

Teacher: Do it again slowly, now tell me how many sounds


the new rhythm got while taping your chest and snapping
your finger.

Students: It got 3 sounds.

Teacher: does it feel EVEN or UNEVEN?


Students: IT FEELS UNEVEN

Teacher : Does it have a pattern of long and short?


Students: Yes it has the pattern of SHORT LONG SHORT!!

Teacher: Lets sing the song from the beginning, When you get
to the new rhythm, show it by clapping the new rhythm.
G 5 mins My Paddle Teacher: Hey guys , I gave you a challenge in the last class. You
are asked to practice the song “MY PADDLE “ – SHOW THE
RHYTHM ON YOUR LEG AND CLAP THE BEAT .
Now let’s see who did this !!
First, let’s sing and show it together.

Teacher: As I make the beat with my maracas, read the solfa of
the exercise, and show the hand sign.

Students sing the Solfa of the exercise as the teacher makes the
beat loud with the maracas.

Teacher: Now let’s reduce the speed of the music and sing the
exercise in Absolute names. ( No hand sign)
Students Sings the exercise in absolute names F=doh.

Teacher: Is the exercise above a Lah-based or Doh based?

Teacher: How many notes do we have in the exercise we
practiced above?

Teacher: Let’s do the 5 note GAME . Sing the notes of the
pentatonic scale starting from La ascending ad Descending Game.

Teacher: Now let’s sing it in patterns with hand sign

more patterns.

2. Teacher Divided the class into two parts makes them sing
the pentatonic hand sign he shows them. One part for his left
hand and the other part for his right hand. He change to
different hand signs and the students read according to the
hand sign. The teacher makes a two-part harmony game.

Teacher: Hey Guys!!!
Here is our new song. This song is a German song titled: GUT
SABAT EICH
The teacher sings the song through; he then talks about the song’s
origin in a min.
Teacher: clap the beat while I sing the song.
Now while you are clapping, sing after me.
The teacher then teaches the song through Rote learning.

Teacher: Boys and Girls, last time we discovered the two TIMINGS,

Teacher: correct!! So today we will be doing a little bit more about it,
this time here is music you know very well.

Last time, we learnt about CALL AND RESPONSE and you know
that is performed in Call and response.
As we are in a circle, while we sing, we gonna take turns to take the
CALLER role while others respond.
I will start first.
The teacher sings the Old House song as everyone claps the Beat in
the Afro way, Everyone takes a turn and is expected to generate words
to break the house down and CAN NOT REPEAT THE WORD
SOMEONE ALREADY MENTIONED. Anyone who breaks the
music is out of the game. He is skipped when the turn gets to him.

D 4mins Interval Teacher: Is this a doh-based or Lah-based music?


Students: it’s a Lah based.

Teacher: Sing the interval starting from low lah ascending and
descending
Students: Sings with hand sign. Lah – doh=m3rd, Doh – rey= M2nd

5MINS BIRCH TREE Teacher: Oh our time is almost over!!
Sing the song BIRCH TREE. While you sing it, write it in stick
notation at the same time.
Lets see who will be the first to finish as I count till 20.
TIME STARTS NOW!!

Students : huming the tune and writing the stick notation at the same
time withing 20 seconds counting by the teacher .

The teacher Goes round to inspect the students work after the
count down is due.
