Remove Water Pump

start by:

a) remove fan and pulley

1. Drain the coolant to a level below the water pump.

2. Remove four bolts (1) that hold the water pump to the timing gear cover.

3. Remove water pump (2).

Install Water Pump

1. Make sure the gasket is in place and put water pump (1) in place on the timing gear cover.

2. Install the bolts that hold the water pump to the timing gear cover.

end by:

a) install fan and pulley

Disassemble Water Pump

a) remove water pump

1. Remove bolt (1) and adapter (2) from the shaft.

2. Remove shaft (3), seals and impeller (5) from housing (4) with tooling (A) and a press.

3. Remove bearing (6) from the housing.

4. Remove bearing spacer (7) from the housing.

5. Use tool (B) and remove retaining ring (8).

6. Remove bearing (9) from the housing.

7. Remove seal assembly (10) and shaft (3) from impeller (5) with tool (C) and a press.

8. Install shaft (3) and seal assembly (10) in housing (4) as shown. Remove seal assembly (10)
from shaft (3) with tool (C) and a press. Remove the seal assembly from the housing with a punch
and a hammer.

Assemble Water Pump

1. Install bearing (1) in housing (2).

2. Install retaining ring (3) that holds the bearing in position with tool (A).

3. Install bearing spacer (4).

4. Install bearing (5) in housing (2).

5. Make an alignment of the bearing spacer with the two bearing bores. Install shaft (6) with a
press from the impeller side of the housing as shown.

6. Install adapter (7). Install bolt (8) and tighten to a torque of 55 ± 5 lb.ft. (75 ± 7 N·m).

7. Install seal assembly (9) into the housing with tool (B) and a press. Do not use a hammer.

8. Install 5P7350 and 5P7352 Spacers (12) as shown. Put impeller (11) in position on the shaft.
Use 5P7353 Spacer (10) and a press to push impeller (11) on the shaft until spacers (12) can just
be removed between the impeller and housing.

NOTE: If spacers (12) can not be removed do the following steps:

a) Remove adapter (7) from the water pump.

b) Use tooling (D) and a press and push the shaft from the adapter side of the water pump until the
spacers can be removed.

c) Install the adapter and the bolt that holds it in place. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 55 ± 5 lb.ft.
(75 ± N·m).
