LEARNING ACTIVITY 3

Part 2

After creating your graphic organizer, write a short essay explaining the different
competencies you have identified and why does a good communicator need those
competencies. Minimumof 150 words, and maximum of 200 words.

These traits are utilized to aid in the development of interpersonal communication abilities.
One of them is adaptability, a skill that is crucial since what works in one scenario may not work in
another. Being aware of the audience and adjusting your behavior to your listeners, for example, is
an important part of giving a good speech. The second skill is Cognitive Complexity, which is
important because it prevents individuals from rushing to conclusions and behaving incorrectly.
Someone with a low level of cognitive complexity may feel betrayed during a conversation and, as a
result, ignore that person the next time they meet. The third is Ethics, which instructs us on how to
determine if something is ethically correct or incorrect. Treating others fairly, speaking honestly, and
avoiding immoral or unethical actions are all examples of ethical communication. Fourth, empathy
may help us in some situations. When someone says, "Put yourself in my shoes," they're asking you
to think about a problem from their point of view rather than your own. Because individuals
typically think and feel differently about the same issue as you do, empathy is a valuable ability.
People who lack empathy assume that everyone thinks and feels the same way they do, which can
lead to issues if that assumption is incorrect. Finally, there's self-awareness. It typically improves
people's communication skills by allowing them to understand how their actions fit or don't fit in a
specific social context.
