It refers to a communication that exchange information from different levels of organization hierarchy
conform to prescribed professional rules, policy standard process and regulations of the organization. It
is also called official communication. It follow a proper channel of communication and control
deliberately.
Examples:
Request, reports, orders, commands etc.
INFORMAL COMMUNICATION
The informal communication is unofficial communication between individual and groups without
conforming the prescribed rules, process system, formalities and chain of command.
Examples:
Casual discussions, gossips, sharing of feelings, etc.

Formal communication are kept permanently such as letters, reports, and memos. It help in future
decisions making.

Formal communication develop the discipline in the mind of employs in any organization.

Formal communication is more reliable and credible for the sending important issues like objectives,

LINEAR MODEL OF
COMMUNICATION
In linear model communication is one way process where sender is the only one who send message and
receiver does not give response or feedback. The message signal is encoded and transacted through the
channels in the presence of noise. The most important and linear model is sender. Linear model was
founded by Shoman and Weaver and after later adopted by David Berlo into his own model called as
SMCR (source, message, channel, receive). It applied on mass communication like radio and television.
Aristotle develop linear model of communication in 300 B.C It main focus on the speaker and message. It
was the first model of communication. The communication process of the Aristotle model is speaker,
speech, occasion, audience and effect. The speaker plays most important role in the communication
because the speaker sets the message to deliver.
