Aldo was the undisputed king of middle school who is smart, outgoing, the kind
of guy both girls and boys felt comfortable around. Everything changed in senior high
school. Most of the other guys his age seems stronger, more muscular, and more
attractive; they are 16 going on manly. Big and athletic, they knock him over during
football practice and run right by him on the basketball court as if he were invisible.
He still has some buddies from junior high school, but even them cannot help with the
feelings of physical inadequacy he experiences on and off the field. While Aldo
continues to get good grades, he sometimes feels reluctant to raise to raise his hand
or participate much in class because he doesn’t want to draw attention to his small
stature. After practice and in class, the other boys talk easily to the girls, but Aldo
doesn’t feel like he has a chance. The girls seem intimidating, too tall and as
confident as supermodels. When he looks in the mirror, a little boy stare back at him.

QUESTIONS
1. What are the strengths of Aldo? What about his limitations? Relate yourself to the
situation of Aldo considering your strengths and limitations.
The strengths Aldo presented are being intelligent, outgoing, and kind to others. The
people are comfortable whenever they are with Aldo during their middle school. But
then senior high started, and suddenly everything that surrounded Aldo changed.
From being the jolly one to the outcast, Aldo seems lost, which causes him to limit his
actions towards others. However, these must not be the root of not growing up as a
person; thus, consider these your motivation. Do not stop being you even though
there are changes. And do not let these changes change you. To have strengths are
a blessing, but to have limitations are learning.
2. What are the weaknesses of Aldo? Relate yourself to the situation of Aldo
considering your weaknesses.
The weakness of Aldo is that he feels like an outcast. His being introverted in the new
environment. Experiencing his schoolmates' bullying and not having his friends' help.
With these weaknesses, I can relate to him that being alone and not talking to me
seems like heartache, mainly if someone close to me is not considering me. Also,
Aldo being insecure about his physical appearance somehow relates to me. Not
being confident enough is a scary thing that most of us have. But then, I'm still trying
to improve and overcome these weaknesses. As for Aldo, we still have time to make
this happen.
3. If you are in Aldo’s situation, how will you take advantage of your strengths?
If I were in Aldo's situation, I would take advantage of my strengths by not being
swayed by the people surrounding me. I will not mind their business because I have
mine to manage and improve. I will make my strengths as an instrument to be better
day by day. I will make my strengths to be my weapon in every triumph I face. These
strengths would help me to conquer my end goals. And would also allow me to help
others. And I will motivate myself with these strengths. Having these strengths is to
be blessed, but not improving with them is useless.
