PREFACE

First of all, thanks to Allah SWT because of the help of Allah, writer finished
writing the paper entitled “Discussion Text, Review text, and Hortatory
Exposition Text” right in the calculated time.
The purpose in writing this paper is to fulfill the assignment that given by Ms.
Febriana Indra Dewi, SS., M. Pd as lecturer in English Language and Literature
subject.
In arranging this paper, the writer truly get lots of challenges and obstructions
but with help of many individuals, those obstructions could be passed. Writer
also realized there are still many mistakes in process of writing this paper.
Because of that, the writer says thank you to all individuals who helps in the
process of writing this paper. Hopefully, Allah replies all helps and bless you
all. The writer realized that this paper still imperfect in arrangement and the
content. Then, the writer hopes the criticism from the readers can help the
writer in perfecting the next paper. Last but not the least, hopefully, this paper

National Exam: Pro and Contra?

STATEMENT OF ISSUE

National exam becomes the hot topic in most of discussions among students, teachers, and
parents. Some people believe that national exam is not necessary for students as a
requirement to be able graduate from a school. In other hand, other people see national exam
as an important indicator to know whether students have mastered all school materials or not.
The debate among society about national examination goes on until now.

LIST OF SUPPORTING POINTS

For people who agree, national exam is necessary for students as a requirement to graduate
from a school. People who support the national exam explain that the quality of the Indonesia
education will drop without the national exam, so they try to defend the current system. They
also think that national examination can motivate students to study harder.

LIST OF CONTRASTIVE POINTS

However there are people who disagree with the opinion. Those who against this national
exam kept in school education say that it doesn’t need the national exams because the quality
of education does not just depend on the national exam. Further, the national exam only
measures a small portion of students’ competence in specific subjects, and does not measure
students’ competences throughout the semester.

CONCLUSION/RECOMMENDATION

In conclusion, national examination can still be useful as an instrument to evaluate or detect


the level of students’ cognitive competence in several subjects, on a national scale. However,
it is not fair if only national exam score that judge whether students pass or not. Government
should make a regulation that national exam is not the only requirement for students to
graduate. There should be other requirements added such as students’ daily score, behavior,
and achievement.

Lenovo Thinkpad T540p

ORIENTATION
Having a high budget, certainly proposing a laptop with a Core i7 processor which will
provide more powerful performance because it has a faster clock-speed, has been supported
by Hyper-Threading technology, and many other advantages. Core i7 laptops are generally
priced expensively, but that doesn’t apply to Lenovo products on this one, the Lenovo
Thinkpad T540p. With only 7.8 million in funds, you can bring home this fierce
specifications laptop.

EVALUATIONS
Regarding the performance of the Lenovo Thinkpad T540p, this 15.6-inch FHD laptop is
armed with an Intel Core i7-4710MQ which has a clock speed of 2.50 GHz to 3.50 GHz.

INTERPRETATIVE RECOUNT
As I said before, regarding the performance of the Lenovo Thinkpad T540p, this 15.6-inch
FHD laptop is armed with an Intel Core i7-4710MQ which has a clock speed of 2.50 GHz to
3.50 GHz. As a result, the Lenovo Thinkpad T540p can be relied upon for a variety of needs,
ranging from office needs, multimedia, to gaming. The racing sector is certainly more solid
because Lenovo is also juxtaposed with Dual Graphics, namely Intel HD Graphics 4600 +
Nvidia GeForce GT 730M. Meanwhile, to support the smooth multitasking, the cheap Core i7
Laptop for 7 million is also accompanied by 8GB of DDR3 RAM. The last for the storage
section, the Lenovo Thinkpad T540p provides a huge 1TB hard drive which is more than
enough to hold your important data.

EVALUATIVE SUMMATION
Laptops with Intel Core i7 processors are generally sold at fairly expensive prices. However,
this does not apply to Lenovo ThinkPad T series. Lenovo ThinkPad T540P laptop is priced at
around 8 million. With the specifications and quality offered, you can get a Lenovo laptop
with an Intel Core i7 processor at a fairly affordable price. Well, that’s one of the best
inexpensive Core i7 laptops in 2019 that is worthy of you to consider supporting your work
performance.

III. HORTATORY EXPOSITION TEXT

The Importance of Reading

Thesis:
I personally think that reading is a very important activity in our life. Why do I say
so?
Argument I:
Firstly, by reading we can get a lot of knowledge about many things in the world
such as Science, technology, sports, arts, culture, etc written in either books, magazine,
newspaper, etc.
Argument II:
Secondly, by reading we can get a lot of news and information about something
happening in any part of the world which can we see directly.
Argument III:
Another reason, reading can give us pleasure too. When we are tired, we read
books, novels, comics, newspaper or magazines on the entertainment column such as
comedy, short story, quiz, etc. To make us relaxed.
Argument IV:
Last, reading can also take us to other parts of the world. By reading a book
about Irian Jaya we may feel we’re really sitting in the jungles not at home in our rooms.
Recommendation:
From the facts above, it’s obvious that everyone needs to read to get knowledge,
information, and also entertainment. Or in summary, we can say reading is truly
important
in our life.

IV. CLOSING

So that we can describe the subject matter became the subject of this paper, of course, there
are still many shortcomings and weaknesses, because they limited knowledge and lack of
referral or reference that has to do with the title of this paper.
Writer much hope dear reader does give constructive critics and suggestions to the author of
this paper and for the sake of perfect and writing papers in the next opportunities. Hopefully
this paper is useful for writers in particular also dear readers in general.
