METHODOLOGY

3.1 RESEARCH DESIGN

This study will focus mainly in renovating and developing a design for the

improvement of the Silla’s Family residential building into a better and sustainable well-

planned design. The research design to be used is a descriptive type research where the

researcher observes and reflects the characteristics of the existing house, geared towards

elucidating the current concerns of the occupants and modifying it to a well-planned and

constructed premise of the property.

3.2 RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS AND DATA COLLECTION METHOD

The data will be collected through multiple research instruments and procedures

to ensure that all information needed will meet the research objectives, which will be

based on the researcher's detailed information given the physical realities of the property,

will demand a more extensive analysis between the study of literature and direct

observation.

Provided by research instruments such as the observation checklist, the reliability

and validity of Internet-based reference and printed materials which will be the research

instruments used in this study.

A literature search will be conducted to obtain information on Green Architecture,

tropical design strategies, natural catastrophe adaptation characteristics, the Modern

Minimalist approach, design concerns for coastal dwellings, and appropriate plumbing

features and fixtures. The observation will also collect data on the Silla family's house's

current Modern Minimalist characteristics, design concerns for coastal houses,

appropriate plumbing systems and fixtures by collecting data using observation

checklists.

3.3 METHODS OF DATA UTILIZATION AND DESIGN

Research Data Method of Utilization for Design or

Design Application
This will be applied to the interior and
exterior part of the residential building to
1. Green Architecture ensure the sustainability of home, using
the following building approach in order
to create a high-performance home
including accessibility, aesthetics, cost
effectiveness, functionality, productivity
and health, history, safety/security,
proper disposal management, passive
cooling effect and sustainability.
2. Tropical design strategies This will be applied to the exterior or
outdoor areas of the house to build a
shelter that provides maximum protection
from the elements and Influencing factors
on our living conditions, particularly
under the heads of seasonality, sunlight,
rain, wind and humidity of the target
construction site, for maximal dialogue
between the structure and its
surroundings, in particular, the climate.
3. Natural disaster adapting This will be applied to the whole building
characteristics approach to mitigate losses of life,
property, and function to design buildings
that are disaster-resistant. This approach
3

should be incorporated into the project

planning, design, and development at the
earliest possible stage so that design and
material decisions can be based on an
integrated whole building approach.
4. Modern minimalist approach This will be applied to the interior part of
the house.
5. Design considerations for coastal This will be applied to the foundation and
residences materials of the building.
6. plumbing features and fixtures This is to ensure the provision of a safe
water supply system, an adequate
drainage system, and ample and proper
fixtures and equipment that do not
contaminate water inside and outside the
building.
