VIRAY IETHICS

Task 1: How would you apply virtue ethics according to Aristotle in your life?

Aristotle believed that a life worth living involved the application of both pure and practical
logic. He defined practical reason as the reasoning behind actions in both personal and civic life. To
practice practical reasoning, you must possess the virtues that will lead to your happiness and
flourishing. Aristotle had his own idea about which virtues would lead to human flourishing, which
philosophers frequently debate. Although Aristotle did not value virtues such as compassion and
truthfulness, I believe his theory of virtue ethics can be applied to some arguments on why people
should consider adopting a pet rather than purchasing one. When you have the virtue of
compassion, which many people consider to be very important today, you feel moved to help others,
both man and animal, when you see them in need. I believe that you should use your compassion to
save a dog or cat from a life of misery and give them a meaningful life while also contributing to your
own happiness and overall well-being. Adopting a pet not only provides you with the satisfaction of
knowing you did a good deed, but it also aids in the treatment of depression and loneliness.

Task 2: How would you apply virtue ethics according to Confucius in your life?

Confucius believed that if there was one word that could serve as a guide throughout one's life,
it should be "forgiveness." He said, "Do not do to others what you do not want to be done to you."
"Forgiveness," meant putting oneself in the position of others and refraining from forcing others to do
what one does not want to do. This is a fundamental principle for living one's life and dealing with
affairs. Confucius believed that a person should help others achieve their goals; if he does not want
others to treat him in a certain way, he should be the first to not treat others in that way. To put it
simply, I think the virtue ethics of Confucius can be applied in your life if you try to understand and treat
others by imagining yourself in their shoes. Before you do anything, consider how you would react if you
were in the same situation as others.
