Analyze:

1. Which biome is the closest to the equator? Assume that there are no great differences in
altitude among the three locations. Explain your answer.
• Assuming that there are no differences in altitude among the three locations, most
likely Biome 2 is the closest to the equator, because its average temperature is higher
than the other 2 biomes.

2. Which biome has the most northerly latitude? Explain your answer.
• In my opinion, the Biome 3 has the most northerly latitude because it has the lowest
average temperature as well as lowest precipitation compared to the other biomes.

3. Which biome receives the most annual precipitation? Explain your answer.
• Based on the data I’ve gathered the Biome 1 receives the most annual precipitation
because I get the summation of the average precipitation of each biome. Therefore,
Biome 1 has most annual precipitation.

4. Which biome receives the least annual precipitation? Explain your answer.
• Based on the data I’ve gathered stated on the previous number, the Biome 3 has the
least average of precipitation, therefore, it receives the least annual precipitation.

5. Which biome has the longest growing season? Explain your answer.
• Based on the graph, the biome that has an average temperature above -5°C for the
most months, has the longest growing season. Therefore, Biome 2 has the longest
growing season.

6. Which biome has the shortest growing season? Explain your answer.
• Based on the graph, the biome that has an average temperature above -5°C for the
fewest months, has the shortest growing season. Therefore, Biome 3 has the shortest
growing season.

7. In which biome would animals need to have structural and behavioral adaptations to survive
long, cold winters? Explain your answer.
• Since based on the gathered data, Biome 3 has the shortest growing season, least
annual precipitation, and the most northerly latitude, therefore, it has the coolest
climate and the animals there would need to have structural and behavioral
adaptations to survive because their body temperature is warmer than their outside
temperature.
Conclude:

8. Infer the biome that is represented by each climatograph. Provide two reasons why you made
each inference.

a) Biome 1:
• I therefore conclude that Biome 1 is Temperate because it has the most annual
precipitation and moderate growing season.

b) Biome 2:
• I therefore conclude that Biome 2 is Tropical Rainforest because it has a longest
growing season and highest average temperature.

c) Biome 3:
• I therefore conclude that Biome 3 is Tundra because it has the shortest growing
season and lowest average temperature.
