I. Background Information
A. Information about the work
- Title : Equality
- Author : Maya Angelou
- “Equality and I will be free”, It got repeated in the poem, it only discuss that the racism is still
lingers around, Maya Angelou wants to end it and makes everyone look equal in different ways that
comes in discrimination that has been happening since then.
- The author's protest against prejudice has been the central focus of this poetry.
II. Summary
- It focused on how men look and treat black women indifferently, and it showed how
racial and sexual it was.
III. Interpretation and Evaluation
- It was direct address, a realistic and interesting manner to adore the certain issue that she was
contemplating.
- To my way of thinking Maya Angelou succeed of persuade the readers on her work, on the words
that she used is clear that the readers easily conduct to what she is pertaining.
IV. Reflection
- Actually it doesn’t only affect me but all of us, it’s not only the black people who only
discriminates, it’s each one of us. Some people didn’t bother to look someone’s feelings
and somehow they being oblivious to the people that new to their eyes and showing racism
towards them.
