REFLECTION
“Successful problem solving requires finding the right solution to the right problem. We fail more often because we solve the wrong problem
than because we get the wrong solution to the right problem” it was quoted by Russel L. Ackoff.
Learning doesn’t stop, either in a formal education or in an informal setting; learning goes on and on for life. Learning something new and
experiencing things everyday that will develop our Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes and Values (KSAV’s) is something that continues within our lifetime.
As teachers, we carry on our shoulders the special responsibility to teach, train and hone our learners in order for them to acquire knowledge and
learnings that are vital for their everyday life and survival. We are tasked to provide them not only the knowledge but also the skills, attitudes and
values they need, to face the fast-paced society they are living in.
As facilitators of learning, our Personal Life-Long Learning Plan (PLLP) is a must. This will be our guide in evaluating ourselves on how far we
have gone and how much do we still need to learn. It is about honesty, knowing our strengths and weaknesses and how we plan to address those
limitations in order for us to help equip and prepare our learners for the challenges of the 21 st century.
I have indicated two weak points in all literacies mentioned, the Arts and Creativity and the Globalization and Multicultural Literacy. Truthfully
speaking, I recognized it as my weak areas of interest because of the limited access, knowledge, resources, and facilities which give me hard time
coping up with. I cannot confidently teach arts and culture without background checking, giving examples, pictures and videos that can be showed to
the pupils for effective teaching and learning. In the K-12 curriculum, traditional ways of teaching these competencies are discouraged, teaching it
traditionally will just cause boredom among learners. Gaining easy and sufficient access, knowledge, resources, and facilities about teaching these
areas of interest would surely suffice my needs in order to improve among these areas. Furthermore, addressing the barriers and giving sufficient
action through support mechanisms with the help of the school, parents, and stakeholders may encourage and motivate the pupils to engage with
these literacies and can improve and enhance the skills of the teacher to become effective and productive agent of arts and cultural diversity.
I also indicated the level of competency as “Good” in the remaining areas of literacy which are: Ecoliteracy, Financial, Media, Cyber/Digital
(ICT), and Social and Emotional Literacy because it indicates that there is always a room for improvement and enhancement in my teaching ability.
As a teacher, I am well-aware about my lapses in the above-mentioned literacies which needs to be given more focus and emphasis. There were
activities that I have indicated in the PLLP that should be applied in order to improve the level of competency in each literacy. Moreover, I should use
the PLLP as a guide in the engagement of teaching and learning process and follow the plan for the realization and success of its objectives, to
enhance the level of competency of the teacher to become competent and be able to adapt and acquire the 21 st century skills of a teacher.
Lastly, I need to further enhance the skills that I am good at and strive to continue to learn and develop my weak parts. By doing so, I can
surely produce productive and competitive life-long learners by simply keeping on inspiring and motivating them to learn.
