Pick one of your most significant learning experiences from Table 1. Take some time to deeply reflect on the experience. Respond to the following questions / sub-
questions as explicitly as possible. Use your imagination and creativity here – this is really all about making connections and seeing what you can learn about your
learning style (and yourself) from the experience!

Describe the task / assignment? What, specifically, did you learn? One of the most significant learnings to me in my education was in OGL 350. This unlocked a

with that, I learned how to acknowledge my own biases and helped me create a sense of
urgency around how this is something important to recognize, especially as a therapist.

The article “Racial Microaggressions in Everyday Life” briefly discussed the treatment black
women in a therapeutic setting, specifically with counselors with white skin interactions. This
article discusses the therapeutic dynamic and relationship between the two and. The
experiences specifically of the black client unable to receive the care that is needed. The article
touches on the evolution of racism and how it has manifested to microaggressions and the
types of microaggressions there are. Additionally, how invisible microaggressions can be to
both the client and therapist. As a future therapist and as a black client who sees a white
therapist, I wanted sent this to my therapist to discuss with her. This article helped us develop
a more trusting relationship and gave me the awareness for the clients that I see in the future.
From this experience, I learned that I want to find a graduate school that has developed
classes for diversity and pushes diversity within many classes, not just one. I learned that the
school my therapist went to did not do such things and many of the things she learned were on
her own or through other trainings she desired to attend for herself. I also learned that there
are many times where there will not be trainings and education around these topics, and it is
important to seek them on your own (like my therapist) if you do truly want to have that
knowledge. Lastly, from this class and article, I found a black therapist mentor to help guide
me in situations that I may face as I progress my education and enter the role as a therapist.

what worked and what I needed, including receiving help for my learning disabilities. I needed
to learn to take charge of myself because no one else was going to do it for me. While
completing this degree, I also went through a complete personal transformation and
embarked on a healing journey that led me to understanding who I really am. Unfortunately, I
was not awake until 2021, which is when I started really applying myself to this program. This
program has been with me every step of the way, so it is important to me because it is a part of
my story. This story will serve me as a therapist who has people coming into my office
struggling to find perseverance through the difficulties they are facing. This story will help me
lead them empathetically as if I have walked a similar road. Lastly this will help me serve
others which is all I want to do in my life.

The skills that I needed to incorporate were ordering the paper book and having the online
book for each course. This would help me have two of the same resources so I could make my
own notes on the books and take the books to therapy if I needed help translating. A second
skill that was necessary for me was something that I learned from a friend of mine about
course management. I was trying many techniques that worked for other people (such as
online calendars and paper calendars), but none of those worked for me. I had to get a small
notebook and write the date, class, and assignment from top to bottom. From there, I
highlighted the class and crossed it off as I went. Keeping deadlines has not been my strong
suit in school mostly because of the amount of reading and how long it takes me to complete
them. I have come a long way in this and now require less additional time. This semester is
proving that to be true (besides this assignment). I am currently taking 4 classes and have had
only 2 late assignment sub missions, which were communicated in advance. This is a huge
improvement from my earlier classes.

OGL 340 is a great example of effectiveness for me. We are using Perusal for all the reading,
which encourages self-reflection, commentary, and engagement. My preferred approach to
learning is when it is broken into small chunks in readings and assignments. I also love
engagement and class discussion, which is helpful for me to understand the material through
the lens of other people. This helps me view things differently than my own lens. OGL 340 also
has discussions, quizzes, and papers that we must complete, which gives a balance to
approach of the material.

During this program, I realized how much self-reflection has been missing from my earlier
education. In my earlier experiences in college, there was very little to know self-reflection in
my classes. This helped me realize that I chose the right degree. In all classes, more than
others I was encouraged to self-reflect, which is what I enjoy and will remember when I
pursue graduate school.

Because of my inconsistencies in this program, I had to take very challenging courses at the
same time.

If I cannot find a grad school that encourages self-reflection, I am going to create it for myself. I
am going to keep a google docs my entire journey after school and do a similar project to this
one. I will include academics, but also what I am learning about myself each week. It will be
amazing to look back on once I graduate, like how amazing it is to see now.

Breaking apart big things into little chunks is what is key for me as I shared above. This is
something I have already applied in my personal life and how I am moving through the course
of this semester. Each time I have a setback, I plan on how to get back to where I should be. I
am going to do this for Core Assignment #2 and ensure that I work on it every other day.

serve as evidence of this knowledge / skill?
Something that I considered a while ago was pursuing the Industrial Organizational
Psychology degree which intermixes psychology in the workplace. This is still something that I
am considering because I can see myself being a consultant of workplace cultures angling from
a more psychology perspective. If I were to pursue this, a long-term goal would to be calling it
“culture keeper” and creating a consulting firm of my own. This is more of a long-term goal,
but something that I believe would be a great plan for communicating my learning to others.

My social media is a tangible thing that I have that is evidence of things that I have learned in
this program and in my life. I use my social media as a reflection tool for myself so I can look
back on it and see that there is evidence to support the direction of where I am now. Social
media has provided me with an invisible accountability and one that has benefitted me.

Assignment #1: Questions for Reflection

Prompt #1: Now that you have completed Assignment #1, what were the most important aspects of this assignment? What moved you the most? Any surprises?

I began this assignment believing that I did not remember one thing from a single class. Assignment #1 disproved this thought that I had. In fact, it brought so much
pride and joy in my journey. I believe that that was the most important aspect of the assignment. This assignment taught me how amazing the brain is and how quickly it
can pick up on things from the past after just reflecting on little parts of it. To be honest, my instructors moved me the most. I have never realized how blessed I am to
have the most passionate and supportive instructors that care for me to succeed. Some of the feedback I have received on my assignments are paragraphs that are filled
with kindness, constructive criticism, and wisdom. The second thing that moved me the most was how much I got back up after being torn down. Throughout my
“artifacts” I saved pictures of failing grades and failing classes that I retook. After retaking the courses, I received A’s in them. It amplifies my value of perseverance and
how much I want to be a well-rounded leader. The thing that surprised me the most was that I love the process of writing papers. I realized that this degree requires a
lot of papers, which I loved. I did not know that about myself until now. Most of the papers were over topics that brought interest, engagement, and reflection.

Prompt #2: What are your ideas in terms of how to best illustrate your growth and development over the course of your education and experiences with the
Organizational Leadership program? What are your best ideas with respect to specific artifacts / evidence that you might present (within the context of an e-portfolio)
as your consider your growth and development in the Organizational Leadership Program?
(insert response here)

The first word that I thought about when I read this question was creativity. I tend to think outside of the box for a lot of things. The way that my journey has been at
ASU is a bit of a reflection of who I am. Determined, chaotic, bright, insightful, emotional, and entertaining (at times). I might present people in my life and their
interpretations of my leadership and how I have evolved. I can speak so much about myself, but the real magic is when others can see the growth as well. In my portfolio,
I may leave a space of just them speaking about their experiences with me and what they have noticed my strengths in.
