Activity 2
Instruction: Justify your answer with research citation and give an observable example that commonly happen in the a
classroom setting. (A minimum of 5 sentences and a maximum of 5 paragraphs)

1. Knowing all the basic concepts and foundations on how to facilitate a learner-centered teaching. As future
educator, how would you facilitate a learner-centered teaching?
Learning is essential for everyone, but especially for students. Thus, having the correct instructors and teachers is
critical since they are the ones who will convey the knowledge that the students will need to understand. And as we've been
exposed to the notion of how learner-centered teaching works, I've learned that this technique is incredibly successful and
good for both the instructor and the students.
As a future educator, it will be my obligation to establish a learning environment in which students can effectively learn
utilizing my teaching skills, and I believe that the best way to do so is through learner-centered teaching. A learner-centered
instruction, according to Maryellen Weimer (2002), is an action that is primarily focused on what the students are doing and
learning. Furthermore, in order for me to effectively create a learner-centered teaching environment in the future, I must be
extremely interactive and open to student input and clarification, or in other words, I must foster collaborative learning (An and
Mindrila, 2020). For example, while discussing a lesson, I will not just spoon feed all of the facts to the students; instead, I will
allow them to develop their own assumptions and comments on the lesson so that they may share them with others and with
me. I also need to develop individual timed tasks. Assignments, according to Siddarth Rajgarhia (2019), should reflect the
reality that not all students work at the same rate. Allowing students to move through material at their own pace based on
their learning styles and needs increases the likelihood that they will gain a better understanding of the subject matter.
There is still a lot to learn about allowing learner-centered teaching, and I am excited to learn more, especially
because I want to be a teacher someday. And I believe that the tactics I listed above are among the most effective ways to
deliver this sort of education. What important is that we, as prospective educators, can successfully convey our expertise to
our pupils while also providing a secure atmosphere in which they may ask questions and learn.

2. What is the significance and relevance of having a learner-centered approach in teaching? In what way
does this improve the teaching and learning process?

Learner-Centered Teaching has been shown to be an effective way to improve learning. To be more specific, in a
learner-centered setting, the school environment is not like traditional classrooms. Students are expected to take on
additional learning tasks and duties in addition to taking notes, listening to professors teach, and passing tests. In a
classroom context, for example, students are encouraged to collaborate with their peers and teacher in order to better grasp
and share their understanding of the teachings. In addition, teachers must communicate with their pupils in order to establish
a connection when teaching.
“It is an environment that allows students to take some real control over their educational experience and encourages
them to make important choices about what and how they will learn” (Doyle, 2008). This technique is beneficial to student
development since students are given responsibility for their learning, giving and providing them with the opportunity and
flexibility to actively engage in the learning process. Students are encouraged to express their ideas during the learning
process, which will make them more active and equipped in the future.
Learner-centered teaching must be introduced and sustained in the professional education program for the instructors
be up to date on current instructional tactics and approaches so that students may benefit from participating in various
activities that will enhance their knowledge and skill development. Both students and teachers must cultivate all necessary
knowledge for them to improve and enhance their skills, skills in teaching for teachers and skills in learning for students.
