Career Field and Specific Jobs

Write a general description of the career field (Healthcare, for example) you plan to pursue and why
this career field appeals to you. Explain how your interests, work values, skills, and aptitudes align with
this career field. You can list more than one career field.
I plan to pursue my career in information technology field. It is a rapidly expanding industry, owing to the
high demand for IT services in all sectors.
This career field appeals to me because of several reasons. Some of main reasons are job growth, strong
income, job diversity, low learning cost and fast changing field. Many people started their IT careers by
studying from tech colleges, obtaining experience by internships, and earning professional certifications.
The technological skills required for each job can differ. It's a common misconception that you need to be
excellent at math or science to work in IT. As an IT professional, you'll need to be able to collaborate
effectively with your bosses and co-workers in order to assist them in resolving technological problems and
maximising the potential of their technology.

Set goals

Goal Setting is the process of planning and documenting the steps necessary to reach the desired
outcome.
Goal setting helps:
 Define and describe your goals
 Determine what steps will be needed to achieve goals
 Know how close you are to achieving the goals

Follow the principles for goal setting and make a list of goals for yourself. Include at least two short-
term goals (within six months), two mid-term goals (next year), and one long-term goal (five years).

Principles for SMART goal setting:

Qualifications needed

Explain the qualifications needed in this career field.

 Describe the certificates/degrees, education, or training process.
 List specific programs of study and courses leading to the qualification.
 List specific places (colleges, apprenticeships, on-the-job training) where you might get the
training and why you would choose that.

Qualifications needed
A bachelor’s degree is the most basic qualification for a career as an IT expert. Though information
management and computer science are two of the most common majors in IT, there are others. After
graduation, students would have to contend for open jobs for those who have prior IT experience. As a result,
even though an internship is not needed as part of an IT degree program, it is beneficial to look for one. Since
there are thousands of IT degree programs to choose from, potential students can choose a well-regarded and
accredited school. While qualification is not a legal prerequisite, it will help you stand out from the crowd by
demonstrating your skill level and expertise to potential employers. IT practitioners may obtain certifications
directly from vendors or by third-party organizations like CompTIA. A master’s degree will help IT professionals
advance their careers. They can also opt to work for themselves as IT consultants in some situations.
Specific programs of study and courses

Based on the jobs you want to pursue, you will complete a variety of degree programs. Four-year IT degrees
teach students the academic, practical, and problem-solving skills they will need to succeed in their careers.
They also take classes to train for IT certification tests, such as Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) and
Cisco Certified Network Associate.

Specific places

Some online education sites for tech skills are Alison.com, Codeacademy, Coursera, Dash General Assembly,
and EdX.
Some famous technical colleges that offer different technical courses are the University of New South Wales,
University of Adelaide. The University of Technology Sydney, and the University of Sydney.

development. He can share his work experience and keep me updated with the recent trend in this career field.

achieve my career goal. He can inform me about the importance of network support for an organization. Also,
the role of IT experts, technicians, and networking experts in his company.

 Certificate III in Information Technology

Things to explore
As a specialist in this field, I can stay updated on new trends and improve my IT skills. Otherwise, I will be
made redundant. As a result, I can never stop studying because new doors are always opening up. If I am one
of the first to master a new talent, I know that progress is not far away. My IT certifications are the last but not
least. They are a perfect way to supplement my education by adding to my resume. Learning a new ability is
great, but being able to affix a degree or a title to it is much better, especially in terms of my professional
advancement.

Requirements
IT professionals come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Each one concentrates on a different aspect of
computer system analysis or repair. A developer, for example, is an IT expert who writes computer code to
build computer platforms and software. This job is frequently entry-level, but as senior programmers advance,
they take on more responsibilities. These tasks include being in charge of their teams and repairing a broken or
malfunctioning software.
