h. Identify the recent trends and focus on educational assessment
2. Discuss the role of assessment in making instructional decisions to improve teaching
and learning
3. Reflect on and discuss the applications and implications of assessment to teaching
and learning

1. Find a partner. Share ideas on the following questions with your partner.
a. Is assessment important in education? Why?
b. How should assessment be conducted?
c. How are assessment for, assessment as and assessment of different from one
another?
d. What is the role of assessment in making instructional decisions? How does it
help improve teaching and learning?
e. What are the components/features of quality assessment? Why is there a need
to consider these features when giving assessment?
B. Reflection Activity
1. Read the article “A Vignette of Assessment in Action” (pp. 18-26 of the
book/material “Rethinking Classroom Assessment with Purpose in Mind”)
