Are you enjoying the wintery weather that has nally hit?We know there are some excited children getting ready for our ski trip next term! This term has been a busy one for visitors and experiences based around our Safety Inquiry. We have had classes involved in the Life Education Bus, a visit from Ronald McDonald about road safety, taking trips into town, visits by the S.P.C.A and even some sessions with our local Police Education Ofcer, Constable Herrick. There has been some impressive learning around what a hazard is and how we can take action about them an important skill as they grow. Please take the opportunity to have a look in our rooms at the childrens work.Building strong connections between home and school are well researched as benecial to their success. You can also see information and updates on our school website, www.myrossbush.school.nz (which now has a facebook page for up to the minute news!) and our classroom blogs.

Room 5, 6, 7, 8: The Senior Team

They will be deciding whether this might be postponed due to the weather Thursday afternoon and a note will sent home with the students. Thanks to everyone who has volunteered their time to help.

From the Classroom Week 11 Term 2

Room 1 Today we celebrated 100 days at school. It has been SO powerful for our learning about place value and groups of 10. We can all skip count in 10's and some of us know there are 7 lots of 10 and 4 left over in the number 74! Each day for the past 100 school days we have placed a marble in the jar so it has been quite a journey. We had a great shared lunch to celebrate, along with a lolly scramble with 100 lollies! We also farewelled Marcus who is moving with his family to Christchurch. All the best Marcus. Reading books are coming home for the holidays on Friday along with a stationery list for replenishing our stocks. Have a great holiday. Certificates on Friday were Addisyn for knowing her phone number and address, Ethan for 100% in spelling, and Eliza for great counting on from the biggest number in maths. Great work! Room 2 has been busy making signs this week. We found some hazards around the school and we decided we needed to take action! Keep an eye out for our signs as they go up by the end of the week. We have had Mr Herrick for road safety. Stop, look listen, decide, when you cross the road. said Cody. I learned that when your brain says 'cross', you need to cross! said Nick. I liked the things on Mr Herrick's belt said Eilish. Keep an eye out in your children's home folders for lots of reading books, and some maths goals to work on in the holidays. Have a happy holiday and keep warm! Certificate Cody Stevens Room 3 have had a great time making safety videos. Please go to our Room 3 blog to view these. I'm sure you will enjoy the great acting skills! I will be sending home about 6 books or stories with each child and their homework book with the spelling list they are working on. The flash cards are going home too as 5 minutes practice every day really helps the children to remember these facts fast! Have a restful and warm holiday. Certificates Grace Davidson, Trey Nelson. Room 4 have had a great term of learning and are looking forward to a well deserved rest. To celebrate that everyone has read for 50 nights we are going to have a pajama day on Thursday. The Room 4 children can wear their pajama's to school. (Please dress warm underneath them) Have a great holiday. Certificates: Harriet Stevens, Hayden Elliotte Room 5 Wow it's the end of term already. Room 5 would like to share some of their highlights with you.We have also shared these on our blog. Eilish - I enjoyed the visit from the RSPCA. The dog was cute. Katie C - I enjoyed learning about animal Safety. Hannah - I am proud of my basic facts times. My personal best is now 4.34. At the start of the year it took me over 10minutes. Ben Mc - enjoyed reading and writing about Margaret Mahy's book "Down the back of the chair. Brock - I loved showing off our awesome Haka to the stags. Katie H - I enjoyed when Harold and the life education bus came to visit. Karlee - I enjoyed the spell-a- thon. I am proud that I got 99/100. Emma R - I have enjoyed Inquiry this term. I am enjoying making a kid pix safety poster with tips on how to keep safe with animals. We are very excited about our BIG MORNING OUT!!!!! Room 5 Thank you for your support this term. Have a safe and enjoyable holiday. Room 6 A big last week has been planned for this week. We are finishing up our inquiry unit on 'Safety Rules'. Using the design process we are looking at making some changes in the playground that will improve the safety of some of the things the children play on. Watch this space!Certificates: Olivia Horton, Joel Fleck Room 7 are the end of our Safety Inquiry and have an impressive Safety Town to display what we have learnt. Groups each have a part of the town to research, plan, design, test and refine to show the technology that counteracts the hazards. The Room 7 and 8 creation will be on display in the Activity Centre on Friday. Everyone is looking forward to a well deserved holiday, we hope all you have a wonderful two weeks! Certificates: Jack Cameron, Thomas Wilcox Room 8 Mac - I love doing Safety Town cause its really creative and fun! I've learned how to make scale model buildings and it's fun making lots of designs that we have to test and go back to research. Olivia - My favourite thing has been doing Safety Town, too. It's a town related to our inquiry because we are identifying hazards and making them so theyre safe. Certificates: Jaidene - Setting and achieving her goals with the Basic Facts Ladder. Gabby - Great work at achieving another level on your Rocket Spelling Programme. Assembly Wk 11: Duty Rm 6 Item Rm 6
