piphat of Thailand with instruments that
are strictly percussive but also integrates
the use of an oboe.

2. Sep Noi – This is also known as the

mahori of Thailand. However, it incorporates
the use of several khene which is large

The students will construct a simplified version of a stringed

instrument using rubber bands as strings, and will use the instrument to
explore the effects of various string characteristics on frequency and
amplitude.

Procedures:
1. Wrap a rubber band around the tissue box so it goes across the
hole. Whether you do this length-wise or width – wise depends on
the size of your rubber band.
2. Slide two-pencils under the rubber band, on one each side of the
hole.

Thailand (Sky Lantern)

Flying lanterns are made out of rice paper

with a bamboo frame, which contain a fuel
cell or small candle. When the fuel cell is
lit, the flame heats the air inside the
lantern, causing the lantern to rise.
Once airborne the sky lantern will rise until
the fuel cell or candle stays alight. When
the candle burns out the sky lantern floats
back to ground.

In Thailand, flying lanterns are used during the year for festivals, the most
popular being the Loy Krathong Festival. This festival is held on the night of the
12th full moon, usually in November, with Chang Mai believed to have the
brightest and most spectacular celebrations. Sky lanterns or wish lanterns as they
are also commonly known have become popular on the main tourist beaches of
Phuket.

Cambodia (Handicraft)
Indigenous people represent 1.4
percent of the total population in
Cambodia, and the majority of them live
in remote rural areas within the
country. Often referred to as
highlanders, their ways of life are
different from the lowlanders, both from
the cultural and economic perspective.
Handicrafts are part of their
traditional culture and their livelihood
as they produce textiles, baskets, jars,
pottery, and other tools for their daily
use.

The handicraft sector provides vital employment opportunities

to most indigenous artisans and disadvantaged people, especially
women who are struggling for survival.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROGRAM

(F.I.T.T Training Principle)

LET US KNOW

Being physically fit and healthy can help you get through
with the stresses and demands of life and this improves your self-esteem,
develops your confidence and self-concept which can only be realized
when are much older.

After going through this activity sheet, the learners are expected to:

2. Design an appropriate physical activity plan for you and to your family
that will sustain a lifelong activity lifestyle; and
3. Perform the physical activities for enhancement of health and skill
performance.

LET US REVIEW

Identify the words using the following pictures associated with

Skill-Related Fitness components.

2. 5.
3. 6.

LET US STUDY

The acronym F.I.T.T stands for Frequency, Intensity, Time,

and Type. It describes the various factors that determine what kind of
impact physical activity will have on your body

FREQUENCY – is how often you exercise. Usually we

measure
this by number of days each week.

INTENSITY – is how hard your exercise. We might

categorize this as low, moderate or high intensity.

TIME – refers to the time of day you exercise

and how long each session lasts.

TYPE – refers to what kind of exercise

You are doing.

The Elements of Fitness Program

1. Aerobic Fitness - is any type of
cardiovascular conditioning. It can
include activities like brisk walking,
swimming, running, dancing, hiking,
or biking. You probably know it as
“cardio.” By definition, aerobic
exercise means “with oxygen.” Your
breathing and heart rate will increase
during aerobic activities. Exercise for
at least 10 minutes at a time and for
a total of 30-60 minutes most days of
the week.

2. Muscular Fitness – strength

training that improves your muscle
and bone health, and helps with
weight loss. Examples are free
weights training, weight machines,
resistance bands, you can use your
own body weight like push up.

3. Stability and Balance – your

body’s core strength helps stability
and balance. You can improve
stability and balance by doing
exercises that focus on the center of
your body. A strong core will help
improve posture. Low back pain, and
prevent falls.
