I. Phiên âm Tiếng anh

1. Nguyên âm Vowels (u, e, o, a, i)

a. Nguyên âm ngắn - Short vowels
- /ə/: ago, mother, together
- /ʌ /: study, shut, must
- /u/: put, should, foot
- /æ /: cat, chat, man
- /e/: bed, send, tent, spend
- /ɒ/: got job, hospital
- /i/: hit, bit, sit

b. Nguyên âm dài - Long vowels

- / iː/ meet, beat, heat - / ɔː/: sport, more, store
- /u:/: school, food, moon - / ɜː /: bird, shirt, early
- /a:/: father, star, car

c. Nguyên âm đôi - Diphthongs

- /ai/: buy, skỵ, hi, shy - /au/: now, sound, cow
- / ɔɪ /: boy, enjoy, toy - / ʊə /: poor, sure, tour
- /ei/: day, baby, stay - / eə /: air, care, share

2. Phụ âm – Consonants

a. Âm vô thanh
- /p/: pupil, pay, stop - /s/: see, summer
- /t/: tea, teach - /∫/: she, sugar
- /k/: kiss, key - / t∫/: children, chicken, watch
- /f/: fall, laugh, fiction - /h/: hat, honey
- /θ/: thin, thick, something, birth

b. Âm hữu thanh
- /b/: bag, baby - /l/: love, lucky, travel
- /d/: dog, daddy, dead - /r/: river, restaurant
- /j/: yes, yellow - /g /: get, game, go
- /n/: many, none, news - /v/: visit, van

Lưu ý: Với các cặp b-p, d-t, g-k, dʒ- tʃ, v-f, ð-θ, z-s, ʒ-ʃ, hình dạng và vị trí của miệng khi phát
âm chúng là giống hệt nhau, chỉ có một điều khác biệt là các âm trước là âm hữu thanh, các âm sau
là âm vô thanh.

 II. Cách phát âm của đuôi –s

"-s” được phát âm là:

+ /iz/: khi trước -s là: /s/, /z/, /∫/, /t∫/, /dʒ/, /ʒ/ (-sh, -ce, -s, -ss, -z, -ge, -ch, -x …)

+ /s/: khi âm tận cùng trước nó là /p/, /k/, /f/, /θ/, /t/  âm …………

+ /z/: khi âm tận cùng trước nó là âm hữu thanh

Các trường hợp đặc biệt của phát âm s/es

 Với danh từ houses: sau khi thêm hậu tố sẽ có cách phiên âm là  /ˈhaʊ.zɪz/ thay vì  /ˈhaʊ.sɪz/.
 Để phân biệt cách phát âm s và es, phải dựa vào âm tiết cuối cùng trong phiên âm, khác với
chữ cái cuối cùng của từ.

Eg:  Dislike: tận cùng bằng e, nhưng có phiên âm /dɪˈslaɪk/ ⇒ Phát âm là /dɪˈslaɪks/.

Tax: tận cùng bằng x, nhưng có phiên âm /tæks/ ⇒ Thay vì thêm hậu tố s ta phải thêm hậu tố es. >>

Taxes /tæksiz/

 Trong các hình thức khác của “s” như dạng sở hữu, dạng viết tắt của “is” và “has”, ‘s’ đều
được phát âm là /s/.

III. Cách phát âm của đuôi -ed

“- ed" được phát âm là:

+ /id/: khi trước -ed là /t/ và /d/.
+ /t/: khi âm tận cùng trước -ed là /p/, /k/, /f/, /s/, /θ/, /ʃ/, /tʃ/, /h/  Các âm …….. thanh
+ /d/: khi âm tận cùng trước -ed là nguyên âm và các phụ âm còn lại.  các âm ………. thanh
