ANSWER

K-12 curriculum is a curriculum that starts from kindergarten to Senior high school. It helps Filipino
students to be globally competitive around the world in terms of education. With the creation of K to
12, it provides additional work opportunity among teachers and additional 2 years for students in high
school. Although it receives lot of criticisms during it’s implementation the success of K-12 curriculum
has proven to be effective.

ANSWER:

The picture or chart shows the duration of years on which the students will take kindergarten, primary
education, junior high school, and senior high school. Unlike the old curriculum, the new curriculum
will have an additional two years of schooling for preparation on entering college. This kind of system
is being used around the world.

About my insights I think it is a great help among students and teachers to have a reform on the
curriculum because it gives more opportunity for students to become more competitive and reach the
standard of the global education. Moreover, it supports the workforce of teachers by increasing jobs
opportunity because of the addition of two grade levels. K-12 program in the Philippines help students
to become ready for college as well as learn life long lessons which we can apply everywhere.

On the other hand, since the implementation of the new curriculum, it gains criticisms among parents
because of the additional burden brought by the K-12 program. Before it’s implementation many are
doubtful and hesitant about approving this program because aside from it’s benefits and goals, the
allocation of money and budget for additional years of schooling will require lots of money.
So, I think it brings many problems among parents with the great change in education.
But all in all, I still agree with the implementation of K-12 because it draw the Philippines on the map of

the world where we can keep up with other countries’ quality of education.

A. As a future educator, do you believe that every child is a potential genius? Are good teachers born
or made? Elucidate your answer by means of video presentation.

ANSWER:

I think every child has their own strengths and weaknesses that makes them special and a potential
genius. Every child are different by the way they are born and the environment where they grow but it
doesn’t mean because of this differences they can’t be genius. There are children who are good at
sports, arts, music, verbal and non-verbal thing. These abilities make a child genius and improve their
way of life.

For me, teachers are made not born. We can choose to become teachers for a specific reason and
goals. We can be one if we have perseverance to become one. Like other professions, there are
trainings, practices and experiences that can help many aspiring teachers to become a good
educators. There are many keys to become a good teachers and it can only be open if we have will,
determination and persistence also with good training and incentives. But somehow I believe that
there are really great teachers who have talent on the art of teaching and those persons have
imprinted it within their hearts.

VII. EVALUATION:
Create an essay about the importance of K-12 Program as our new curriculum.

ANSWER:

It can be consider that the implementation of K-12 program of President Noynoy Aquino becomes a
big move of the administration perhaps in transforming the educational system of the Philippines. With
many considerations about implementing the new curriculum including criticisms and earning
disapproval, it finally happened on 2016 with the newest batch of learners to be known as K-12
graduates. Now that the landscape of basic education in the Philippines improved , it is high time that
Filipinos should also realize it’s importance to our nation and to the people.

K-12 program is not implemented with a thought of burdening students and parents. The Aquino
administration aims to enhance the quality of education in the Philippines where the ultimate goal is to
keep pace among other countries competitiveness in the field of education. Due to the low status of
education here, Philippines become the last country in Asia to implement K-12 program. It is very

concerning matter that makes the new curriculum essential and needless to say, we absolutely
needed today.

President Aquino’s reform in education guaranteed that quality education is the key to our nation’s up
building. As he mention, most Filipino’s overseas workers sometimes are not chosen to their work
because they are not consider as professionals abroad. Moreover, most high school graduates are too
young to enter the labor force by approximating their age at 16 if the basic education is not reform.
Other importance of K-12 program is it’s decongested curriculum which laid meaningful reform in
education.

Even if the Aquino administration receives many criticism, difficult backlogs on the way of
implementing the new curriculum and petition to diminish the law, it came into life and now teachers
and students are experiencing a more competitive educational system. Indeed, it is a big game
changer in the field of education which we can consider to be a leap of success from undefined
doubts and hesitation.
