I. Objectives

A. Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding about art and the assumption of
arts.

B. Performance Standard
The learner can interpret different artworks related to the assumption of arts.

C. Learning Competency

At the end of the lesson, learners must be able to:

1. Define and differentiate the assumption of arts;


2. Determine the importance of arts into different aspect of life;
3. Perform various interpretation of the assumption of arts.

III. Procedures

A. Introduction

Learning Task 1: Cabbage on a Paper Game!

Instructions:

1. The students will form a circle. Afterwards, the teacher will give them
crumpled paper where different questions are being asked.
2. The teacher will turn on the music while the students are passing the paper.
After, the music stops playing, the student who gets the paper will read and
answer the question in the crumpled paper.

B. Development

What is Art?

Art- comes from the Aryan root word Ar- meaning to join or to put together.
The greek word Artizen means to prepare. The latin term ars/ artis means
everything that is made or assembled by man.

Example of Arts:

* Painting such as Irises by Vincent Van Gogh

Most wild iris are blue or purple. The painting appears to show the blue variety
of color of the wild flower. He carefully studied their movements and shapes to
create a variety of curved silhouettes bounded by wary, twisting, and curling
lines. (Insert picture ng Irises).

* Sculpture such as Discobolus or "The Discus Thrower"

A sculpture produced in 460-440 BC. It is made by the sculptor Myron and it


describes someone who wants to throw a disc.
* Cave Painting such as Angono Petroglyphs

Discovered in 1965, the Angono Petroglyphs are believed to be the oldest


known artwork in the Philippines. Dating to the third millennium B.C; they are
a collection of 127 figural carvings engraved on the wall of shallow cave of
volcanic tuff.

Learning Task 2:

Is this an Art? (5 minutes)

Materials Needed: Paper Pencil/Pen

Instructions:

1. The students will get a piece of paper. The teacher will instruct them to
close their eyes and follow everything she will say.

2. The student will draw a circle, then they will draw it's petals, and leaves.
After that, they will open their eyes and the teacher will call a student.

3. The student will share his/her drawing in front of the class and lastly, the
teacher will ask if their drawing is an example of art or not.

C. Engagement

Assumptions of Art

Art is Universal
● Works of Dr. Jose Rizal and Francisco Balagtas.
● The artworks are not read because they are old but they are beautifully
written.
● Arts regardless of origin, time, and place are liked and enjoyed by people
continuously.

Art is Not Nature

● Man’s expression of his reception of nature.


● Man’s way of interpreting nature.
● Art is made by man, whereas nature is a given around us.
● Art not directed by representation of reality, is a perception of reality.
● Five blind men touching an elephant.
● Arts has its reason why the artist made it. What is it that he wants to
show?

Art involves Experience

● It does not full detail but just an experience. “ Actual doing of something”.
● Radio DJ, Choreographer, Painter, Sculptor
● “ All art depends on experience, and if one is to know art, he must know it
not as fact or information but as experience.

C. Assimilation

1. Generalization

Learning Task 3: Count and Choose Game (2 minutes)


Game Mechanics:
1. The teacher will call a student and the student will give a number from 1-15.
2. After that, the students will start to count until they reach the number that
the student choose.

3. The one who stop by the number is the one who will answer the question.

Question: Sum up everything that have been discuss.

2. Performance Task: Mystery Box

Materials Needed:

Mystery Box Paper


Paper color peppero origami
Paper/pen
Drawing Materials

Instructions:

1. Count 1 to 3 and gather with your respective groups.


2. Choose a representative who will pick a paper color peppero origami.
Those papers have colors underneath that corresponds to the color of the
mystery boxes.
3. The color they pick is the color of the mystery box assigned to them.
4. Each mystery box has specific task inside that the group had to make for 2
minutes. After the time is done, they have to perform their work in front of the
class.

Task: Define "Art is Universal on a short poem"

Mystery Box 2
Task: Interpret "Art is not Nature" by a simple drawing. Explain your work on a
short sentence.

Mystery Box 3
Task: Brainstorm with your group and relate "Art involves experience" in your
life as a student who's skill in art need to develop.

Criteria:

Creativity-10
Total-20

IV. REFLECTION

Answer the question clearly and honestly.
