Factors affecting kinetic energy: mass and velocity

Example:

Lets say the truck has original mass of 800kg. There are 2 identical trucks
moving with a luggage of 32 kg (red truck) and 45kg (blue) truck. Both of
them are travelling at same velocity of 12km/h. Which truck will could cause
a bigger accident if it hit the man on the road?
Steps: KE= ½ mv2
1: sketch the question if possible Blue truck: mass= 800+45 kg, Skier A is at a height of 5.7 m while skier B is at 8.1 m. calculate the GPE to
Velocity: 12km/h show that blue skier has more energy. Follow the same steps as before.
2: write the formula
Weight= mg = 500N for both skiers
3: write the values known Red truck: mass 800+32 kg,
Velocity: 12km/h Skier A: weight 500N, height 5.7m
4: convert to SI units
Conversion:12km/h to m/s Skier B: weight 500N, height: 8.1m
5: calculate, write unit in the end
=12000/ 3600 GPE= mgh
Blue truck: ½ m v2
(mg) x h If mass increases, potential
=½ x 845 x 3.332 =3.33m/s
energy will …………..
Skier A= 500 x 5.7
= 4685.06J If height decreases, potential
If mass increases, Kinetic
2 = 2850J Energy will …………..
Red truck: ½ m v Energy will …………..
Skier B= 500 x 8.1
= ½ x 832 x 3.332 If velocity increases Kinetic
Energy will ………….. = 4050J
=4612.98J
So, Skier B has more energy as the skier B is at more height than skier
A.
So, blue truck would have more impact on the person if an accident were
