ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

1. Name several devices and machines that function because of the magnetic effect of
electricity.
2. Explain the piezoelectric effect in connection with several useful applications.
3. What is meant by load?
4. List the important elements of an electric circuit.
5. State Ohm’s Law in words; in equation form.

ANSWER:
1. Microphones, speakers, headphones, telephones, loudspeakers, electric motors,
generators, doorbells, electric buzzers, and computer hard drives are some of the
devices and machines that use the magnetic effect of electricity.

2. Today's electrical equipment is not only connected to one another electrically but
also frequently uses piezoelectricity for various purposes. Piezoelectricity is used
in cellular phones, diesel fuel injectors, grill igniters, ultrasonic transducers,
acoustic guitar pickups, vibration sensors, some printers, musical greeting cards,
etc. The applications of piezoelectricity include the following fields: piezoelectric
motors, actuators in industrial sector, sensors in medical sector, actuators in
consumer electronics (printers, speakers), piezoelectricity buzzers, instrument
pick-ups, microphones, piezoelectric igniters, nanopositioning in afm, stm, and
micro robotics (defense).

3. Any component of a circuit that uses energy or power is referred to as a load. The
most prominent examples of electrical loads in a home are light bulbs and
appliances. A load on a circuit is any resistor or electric motor that transforms
electrical energy into light, heat, or useful motion.

4. The important elements of an electric circuit are a conductive "path," such as wire,
or printed etches on a circuit board; a "source" of electrical power, such as a
battery or household wall outlet, and, a "load" that needs electrical power to
operate, such as a lamp.

5. V = IR, where V is the voltage across the conductor, I is the current flowing through
the conductor, and R is the resistance provided by the conductor to the flow of
current.
