Evidence: My sense of justice

Yaleinis Manzur Gomez

A. Some people are biologically predisposed to become criminals.

For my part I agree with this statement, although I consider that not only a biological
predisposition can make a person become a criminal but also the social environment,
the upbringing and example of the people around him.

B. Crime is a consequence of poverty.

While I agree that poverty and the need to earn a living can make a person so desperate
that they are forced to commit crimes in order to survive, I firmly believe that it is not
the only cause of poverty but also the lack of values and upbringing that these people
have received.

C. A criminal cannot be reformed.

I totally disagree with this statement since all people with the unconditional support,
the necessary confidence and seeing how someone in spite of everything that has
happened in his life gives him the opportunity to rebuild his life can come to find the
value in life and want to be better and better everyday.

D. To reduce crime, we just need more police.

The truth is that I disagree with this statement because, yes, having a good police force
is essential to maintaining order and security in a city, as long as they do their job
properly, which in my country is difficult to do. In addition, the police cannot be the only
method of eradicating crime. Social programs must also be implemented to educate and
provide opportunities for people who commit these criminal acts.

E. Some criminals deserve the death penalty

Although I agree that certain types of criminals should not have the possibility of being
released because it can be shown that their actions are due to a certain type of disorder,
it does not seem logical to me to end the life of these people. On the contrary, I believe
that the best solution is to have them under control either in a cell with all the security
of the case or having them in psychiatric care centers in which one can find a way to
help them.
