Learning Competency/ies Describes the musical elements of selected vocal and instrumental
music of Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music
Key Understanding to be Developed  Vocal and instrumental music of Baroque period were developed.
 The interest in music as a form of rhetoric sparked the
development of new genres, particularly in the area of vocal
music.
 These are the new forms of music during the Baroque period:
Concerto, Concerto Grosso, Fugue, Oratorio, and Chorale.
OBJECTIVES
Knowledge Analyze how Concerto Grosso, Fugue, Oratorio, and Chorale differ from each other;
Skills Describe the elements of music in the music played by the teacher;
Attitudes Identify the important contribution of Baroque music to the modern world;
Values Maka- Diyos- Develop and share God’s given talent through creating music.
CONTENT Music of the Baroque Period (1685- 1750)- Concerto Grosso, Fugue, Oratorio,
and Chorale, Composers

PROCEDURES
Introductory Activity Group Performance:
Time Frame: 5 mins.
Jumbled Words
1. The teacher will arrange the group in column.
2. Each group will be given a bill, so that when they want to answer they will
just ring it.
3. The teacher will flash on the screen the following words below and then
they will arrange in order to get the correct answer.
4. They will just write their answers on a strip of colored cartolina, ring the
bill and raise their answer.
Words to be arranged: Pearl, Barocco, Grandiose, ornamentation, Major
Tonality, Minor Tonality
Activity Individual Activity:
Time Frame: 15 mins. 1. The teacher will ask the learners to get a piece of paper and a pencil.
2. The teacher then plays an example of Baroque music.
3. The teacher will ask the learners to draw the rhythm of the Baroque music.
4. The teacher then asks the learners to show their papers to the class.
5. The teacher then asks one learner to express his/ her explanation about his
drawing. Their answers should have relationship with the word “complicated or
has many zigzag lines”.
6.The teacher will ask the learners who are the composers in the pictures.
Analysis Listening activity.
Time Frame: 10 mins. *The teacher will play an excerpt of the music of Baroque period
Based on the listening activity, the teacher will ask the learners to distinguish the
elements of music in each music being played: Fill in the blanks your answers by
