    Independence Day of Chile

    One of my favorite days of the year is my country's Independence Day. Independence Day is

    September 18 and September 19 is the "Day of the Glories of the Chilean Army." This day is like a

    ‘Memorial Day’ in the USA, so we have 2-3 days of vacation. On September 18 of last year, I got up

    at 11 in the morning. Then I went to buy empanadas for the whole family with my father, while my

    uncle prepared the grill. Next, we ate at my uncle's house with my whole family because on this

    holiday the whole family traveled to my city to celebrate. After lunch, we have fun as a family and

    play typical Chilean games. Finally, on the 18th we had a great dinner. On September 19 we had a

    great lunch again. At 1 or 2 in the afternoon we saw the army parade on national television. After

    that, I met my friends and went to the “Ramadas” which is like a typical independence fair. Finally,

    I met with my family and we said goodbye to those who are leaving the city. I really like these

    vacations because they are very special and fun.
