ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to my project guide
Mr. Aryan Agnihotri (Vairamani Foundation) as well as our University
which gave me the golden opportunity to do this wonderful Community
Development Project on the topic “Spreading awareness to protect River
Yamuna from dying” which also encouraged me in doing a lot of
research and I came to know about so many new things I am thankful to
them.
I would also like to thank my parents and my fellow friends who helped
me a lot in finalizing this project within the limited time period.
Introduction
The Community Development Project that I have been working on since
this topic was basically all about spreading social awareness through
social media about the ways how we can protect the holy river Yamuna
and aware the people of NCT of Delhi on individual level from getting
polluted and unsafe for the survival of aquatic and marine animals. The
blog.
The main objective of NGO is to provide food to stray animals and
adopting a green and clean environment by planting trees and feeding the
stray animals and taking care of them and providing them medical
facilities. The NGO also has started the fundraiser program in which
I am a local resident of Delhi NCR and 70% of the water supply at our
homes basically depends on the water of River Yamuna and canals
emerging from it. The condition of pollution in River Yamuna has
worsen over the last few years. Delhi being a land locked state depends
on water from the neighboring states to supply its needs. With the section
of Yamuna that flows through the city being clogged, contaminated,
polluted and drying up which is being impossible to fulfill the daily
demand for water for an estimated population of Delhi.
Objective to be achieved
The main objectives to be achieved during the volunteering period of
Community Development Project are enlisted below:
To spread awareness: The main objective of this project is to
spread the awareness among the people of the various issues being
faced by the community which is also a cause of hinderation in its
growth.
To plant trees: The NGO solely aims to achieve a green and clean
environment by planting trees in our surroundings on individual
levels.
To feed stray animals: Providing food and given task to feed the
stray animals in our locality and societies.
After the research was done, I wrote my thoughts on my blog post which
were then posted on different social media handles by volunteers enrolled
in social media marketing group. Different groups were made to discuss
Blogs, posters, video edits and share them on social media to spread
awareness.
Eventually, the other objective of Community Development Project was
to plant more and more trees in our homes, balcony, garden, terrace or
outside our homes. I bought some saplings, some vegetables seeds and
some flower plants on my terrace and took care of those plants and water
them on daily basis. I looked after if there is any bug or insect affecting
the growth of plants. I took some pictures and shared them on my social
medias and wrote some thoughts to spread the awareness to plant trees. I
asked my mother to take photos of me while the process of planting trees
and everything. Here are a few images.

The most amazing thing about this whole process was the production of
vermicompost that was made using the vegetable peels, dried leaves
papers, rotten vegetables, fruits and used tea leaves. Here is the image.
Organic compost made by kitchen wastes.
One of the major objectives of the Foundation is to feed the stray animals
or any animal looking around for food. Usually, whenever there is some
leftover food at my home, I give it to cows. To achieve this objective, I,
with my few friends and siblings went outside to the rural area and
bought some biscuits, rusks, packets of milk and some rotis to feed the
stray dogs and honestly that was the best feeling to feed some hungry
animals. Even those animals seemed so happy that they started playing
with us. I also clicked some pictures while feeding them.
The Vairamani Foundation profoundly works on the funds that it receives
from the donation by the people from different places. The amount of
money that they receive they use them for various humanitarian purposes
including buying food for stray animals. I shared a fundraiser poster on
my social media accounts to collect donations for this purpose. I also
donated some money from my side.
Moreover, Vairamani Foundation does not aim to work on any specific
4. Nurtured the environment: Planting trees and taking care of them also
uplifts our mood and these days when fresh air is not available for
everyone these plants provide us fresh air as well as some beautiful
flowers and fruits.
Conclusion
“As the term implies, Community Development means the development
of Indian Community. The development is bought about by stimulative,
encouraging, aiding and assisting the people in improving their standards
of living. Use of any available resources already developed by any
predecessor or the community people. Community development is a
wholesome approach to community problems and cannot be inclined to
one line of argument. Due to the interdependency of community
development system, borrowing from other disciplines is inevitable
preempting the reason why community development cannot have just a
single approach. It should be open-ended to allow for freedom of
participatory as well as involving the doctrines of human society.
It also gave me the opportunity to interact with a lot of new people. I had
so much fun during the whole CDP. I got to learn so much from this
project. Our different social identities and the social groups we belong to
determine our inclusion within society and, by extension, our
vulnerability to any issues.
