FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT II ETHICS1 (Tuesday 1-4 pm)

Quiz no. 1

1. Is it important for you as a manager to understand the difference

between leadership and management? Explain fully.
 It is important, because leadership and management is different from
each other. When we say leadership it is on how you will lead your
people or your employee, it is you being a leader or their role model.
While management is about, on how you will manage your employee.
Because you as a manager, when the owner is not around you will
stand as the second owner or you’re the one who will manager the
company or that branch.

2. What is the difference between the “situational approach” and the “trait
approach” to leadership? Which approach seems to have more
relevance to you as a manager? Explain.
 The trait approach of leadership focuses on the leader’s traits. In this
approach, the leader is recognized as a person of valuable traits which
is made as a benchmark for identifying leaders in the future and
believes that leaders are born or made to be a combination of skills like
intelligence, creativity, decision making, tolerance, persistence, and
good communication and social skills. Situational leadership is an
approach which focuses on situations more than leaders. The stages
of this approach consists of delegating, coaching, supporting and
directing the team. This approach is based on situations and readiness
of the people. This approach looks at the appropriateness of the
current situation.
 I think situational approach is more relevant, because as a manager
you need to look on both sides and you need to base on what the
situation is.

3. Would it be easy for you to be a “servant leader”? Why?

 No, because being a servant leader you should be/ you should have
strong decision making skills, emotional intelligence, a sense of
community, self-awareness, foresight, and commitment to others; So it
is not easy for me to be a servant leader because, I should need to
have those skills but I will do my job to at least be one or to have those
skills.

4. Given all that you’ve learned in the topic: Leadership, what kind of
leader will you try to be as a manager? Explain.
 Transformational Leader, because these kind of leaders is about
making improvements and finding better ways to get things done. And
as a result, they inspire and empower other people to own their work
and chime in with their suggestions or observations about how things
could be streamlined or upgraded. For me I want to improve my job or
me as a leader and I also want to inspire my employee.
