ACTIVITY #1: DEMOCRATIZATION OF IDEAS (15 POINTS)

Direction: Think of a SOCIAL MEDIA trending issue that caught your attention. Identify whether it is part of

Our government implemented the face to face classes again in our education amidst this
pandemic. Due to this, safety protocols are being followed by our schools. The school abides with
what the government wants for our education and the school will implement. The students,
teachers, and other person in the school would have to follow it for each other's safety during the
face to face classes. This is under structural functionalism wherein each member serves a purpose
and performs each other's functions. For me, structural functionalism is good because it follows
pattern of leadership which is very important. Each one in the society has a part for the existence
of other and society as a whole.

The structural functionalism is a sociological perspective that views society as a complex system whose parts
cooperate to promote solidarity and stability. It is useful in analyzing social issues in such a way that
members of society must act as a whole though performing different functions.

Yes, because If I am going to ask for help, I should approach them nicely. If the approach is not good, how am
I supposed to get help from them. Most of all, they are my friends, ofcourse we should treat each others
nicely and help each other.
2. Does symbolic interactionism make sense? How? (4 POINTS)
Yes, individuals as actors in relation to social groups construct symbolic and shared meanings through the
repetitive act of interaction. Significantly, symbolic interactionism does not deny the unique; rather, it is
concerned with how distinct meanings are adapted and interpreted through social practice. Moreover, it
seeks to understand our relationship with their society by focusing on the symbols that help us give meaning
to the experiences in our life
